On the fringes of Littleton, Colorado, Summit Ridge at West Meadows is where cosmopolitan living entwines with suburban allure. Just 5 miles from Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, locals can revel in the beauty around them while listening to live music from renowned artists. Bordered by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains on the west, historic downtown Littleton to the east and Denver to the north, this neighborhood supplies a splendor of indoor and outdoor entertainment options.
Walking along the winding streets, a range of distinctive houses effortlessly weaves modern aesthetics with the region’s rustic charm. From traditional colonials with iconic symmetry to contemporary mountain-style condos and homes, there is something in just about any price range. “Summit Ridge maintains a wide variety of architecture, from smaller homes built in the 1970s to brand new construction,” says Mike Burns, broker at RE/MAX. Prospective homebuyers can expect a two-bed, two-bath condo for sale between the lower $300,000s to the $400,000s. Single-family homes typically start in the mid $600,000s to the $700,000s, with a few selling for just over $800,000. Residents often enjoy two-car garages, modest front yards, and watercolor sunsets in their fenced-in backyards.
Children in the neighborhood attend above-average Jefferson County School District schools, such as Powderhorn Elementary and Summit Ridge Middle, scoring a B-plus on Niche. Dakota Ridge Senior High School proudly offers the International Baccalaureate Program, boasting an A-minus. With two pathways to success, students can fully immerse themselves in and achieve an IB Diploma or take IB classes “a la carte” and gain college credit.
After school, nearby Robert A. Easton Regional Park beckons with its beautiful allure. Here, kids run around the playground as cheers from the baseball fields echo through the air. Canopy-covered pathways are lined with joggers at dawn and, by dusk, are filled with families savoring sunsets over Hine Lake, where hobbyists can catch bass to bluegills. On a sunny day, you can spend the afternoon on the range at Meadows Golf Club as the Rockies cast their timeless silhouette in the distance or catch a hockey game at the indoor ice rink at Edge Ice Arena. Popular hiking areas nearby include the Hogback Trail across the foothills. “We are so close to the mountains and are right next to the foothills. Just south of the area is Chatfield State Park, home to one of the biggest reservoirs in the Denver area,” Burns says. To the north, Bear Creek Lake Park, spanning over 2,600 acres with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains, offers locals a place for boaters and mountain bikers along the trails hidden under the colorful foliage of evergreens and aspens.
The neighborhood is full of restaurants. Bowles Café in the Coal Mine Center is a fan favorite for brunch while neighboring Flying Pig Burger Co is a busy spot for delectable burgers and crispy, hot fries. For a drink after work, Lariat Lodge Brewing Company offers a range of beers, cocktails and wine, such as the Sprücenhosen, a collaboration with neighboring El Rancho and Evergreen Brewing. Just Love Coffee Cafe is a great spot to fuel up for the day before running errands, with Walmart, Safeway and King Scoopers all within a 2 mile radius. Just outside the neighborhood’s borders, nearby Morrison is home to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, and well-known restaurants, Burns says. “Morrison Inn is a famous Mexican restaurant in the area, while The Fort serves cuisine that truly emulates the Wild West, such as rattlesnake, elk and bison,” Burns says.
Southwest Commons and Southwest Plaza along South Wadsworth Boulevard offer over 100 retail stores for everyday necessities. However, Summit Ridge’s appeal doesn’t end with its immediate borders. The pulse of downtown Denver is a mere 20 miles away by car, with its many eateries, museums, art galleries and eclectic boutiques, while charming historic downtown Littleton is about 8 miles away. Yet, despite the magnetic pull, residents cherish returning to their quiet homes post-adventure. Bordering Colorado State Highway 470, locals can easily access the great outdoors or the busy streets of Denver.
