The community skims the edges of suburban and rural Iowa, a location reflected in the neighborhood's streetscapes and architectural makeup. "Homes here were built between 1990 and 2010," Levering says. "There are some parts of the neighborhood that are still seeing new construction." Ranch-style and two-story traditional are the most common architectural designs. Plots are typically 1/8 to 1/4 acre, and most homes have either attached or detached garages. Prices range between $195,000 and $315,000.BMX track and disc golf at local parks

The park's centerpiece is the 165-acre Easter Lake, a pristine natural lake stocked with walleye, bass and crappie and surrounded by sandy beaches. Bike trails connect Easter Lake Park with Ewing Park, a 365-acre park with a BMX and Soap Box Derby Track, disc golf course, dog park, Lilac Arboretum and children's forest. “I think the parks here are bigger and better,” Levering says. On rainy days, residents can rent a spot at Bowlerama Lanes or drive into Downtown Des Moines to visit a museum.High school offers AP classes
