Peaceful, scenic and friendly

Valley High Manor is a suburban neighborhood with a rural vibe, offering a seamless blend of budget-friendly housing, convenience and natural beauty. The surroundings are an inviting suburban landscape, with cul-de-sacs, sidewalks and streetlights situated among large shade trees. Landscaping tends to be manicured but reserved, with ornamental bushes hugging many façades. "It almost feels like we are secluded here with woods on one side and fields on the other," says Malinda Weets, a 34-year resident and secretary of the Valley High Manor Neighborhood Association. "Most people are homeowners and have pride of ownership." Each time a homeowner moves in, they are greeted by a welcome packet from the association, supervised by a 98-year-old resident.

Midcentury is predominant

Homes from the mid-20th century are predominant in the community, and architectural designs include ranch-style, contemporary, split-level and bungalow; prices range from $133,000 to $431,000. Lot sizes are consistent, too, with most yards averaging just under 1/4 acre, suitable for a small garden or gathering area. For example, buyers can find an updated three-bedroom ranch for $259,900. Homes without garages have driveway parking or a carport available. "We feel safe here," Weets says. "People are out all hours of the day walking their dogs or taking strolls."
