Perched atop Ute Pass is the "Center of the Universe"

Divide, Colorado’s town moniker is the “Center of the Known Universe.” The area is named after the point where the waters of the South Platte and Arkansas rivers separate and is perched atop the 9,165-foot Ute Pass. Divide is the entry point to numerous exceptional State and National Parks in Colorado. It is home to stunning mountain mansions, roomy ranches, and rustic lodges. “It’s got that mountain rural feel to it,” says Realtor Todd Zeller, who has sold homes in the area for eight years while working with Coldwell Banker. “People that live in Divide want to be out of cities. Some houses are second homes.”

Divide offers opportunities to hike, observe wildlife and mountain bike

Situated 25 miles west of Colorado Springs, Divide has many recreational options, including Mueller State Park, a 5,000-acre natural area boasting breathtaking vistas of Pikes Peak’s western flank. In addition, the park offers many camping choices, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and horseback riding, along with 55 miles of breathtaking trails that are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian riding. The Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument has over 1,700 plant and insect species preserved in rock. Year-round wolf and wildlife tours are available Tuesday through Sunday at the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center. The Eleven Mile Canyon Recreation Area is situated behind the dam of the Eleven Mile Reservoir. The former Colorado Midland Railroad bed was the narrow dirt track that winds through the canyon before the dam and reservoir were built. The canyon is lush, rugged, and covered in trees, contrasting the reservoir area’s broad basin and rangeland-style geology. Hiking and rock climbing here is very common.
