Restaurants in these parts have loyal fan bases. Hungry truckers take a break from highway driving at Melissa’s Country Grille, located off Lancaster Pike. A few miles north towards The Buck there’s the Eagle Cafe, a favorite sandwich spot. “You’re bound to know somebody when you walk in,” says Hall. Dolce Vita Pizzeria, frequented for its homemade dough, isn’t too far away in Musser Plaza alongside a Dollar General and Giant Grocery.

Golfing at Pilgrim's Oak, fishing and demolition derbies
Pilgrim’s Oak Golf Course, which boasts 18 holes and impeccably maintained grounds, is the go-to spot for those who want to practice their swing and socialize on the weekends. Some residents prefer to try their luck with a fishing rod at the Peach Bottom Marina, while others opt to head out on the Susquehanna River in their motorboats during the warmer months.
About 9 miles, or 15 minutes, north, Buck Motorsports Park hosts year-round events like demolition derbies, monster truck shows and rodeos. In the summer months, be sure to stick around post-performance to catch the park’s nightly fireworks show.
