That’s appealing to a lot of people,” says Matt Lees, a Realtor with Realty Raleigh, who has been selling homes in the area for six years. “It’s a great location. Research Triangle Park isn’t far from there. There are also universities and medical training hospitals. It’s a fantastic market for short-term rentals because there’s so much nearby.”

Glenn School Road hosts nationally known chains and mom and pops
Along Glenn School Road, there are plenty of familiar chains like Walmart Supercenter, Dollar Tree and Subway, as well as some independent options. For dining out, Taqueria Jalisco is a local favorite that serves up authentic south-of-the-border fare such as street corn and micheladas, “Mexican Bloody Marys” made with beer instead of vodka. Students zoned to attend brand new Northern High School
Public school students may attend Glenn Elementary, Lucus Middle and Northern High. Part of the Durham Public Schools district, the elementary and middle schools score C Niche grades, while the high school earns a B-minus. Home of the Knights, the high school’s $96 million campus opened in the fall of 2023 and features an 800-seat auditorium, a 1,500-seat football stadium and a 2,100-seat gymnasium. Spend the day on the Eno River
Outdoor options abound in Northeast Durham. Hikers appreciate that a portion of the 1,200-mile Mountains-To-Sea Trail runs through the neighborhood, following Falls Lake and the Eno River. There’s a public boat ramp on Red Mill Road, where residents can launch their canoes and kayaks for a day of paddling and fishing on the river. Those who visit the 91-acre Glennstone Nature Preserve on Glennstone Road will discover a blue heron nesting ground, serene creeks and an old car graveyard.

Hop on Interstate 85 to quickly get around Durham
