Eagle Crest offers a resort lifestyle right outside Redmond
Eagle Crest is a scenic resort community located a few miles west of Redmond. First developed in the late 1980s, the community spans 1,700 acres on the eastern slopes of Cline Buttes, extending towards the Deschutes River. This high desert location, characterized by western juniper woodland and sagebrush, creates a unique, outdoorsy aesthetic, while proximity to Redmond means residents don’t have to sacrifice creature comforts. “It’s a great place if you want to feel like you’re kind of out in the wilderness, without actually being out in the wilderness,” says Broker Holly Cole of Keller Williams Realty Central Oregon. “You’re close enough to Redmond that it’s not a hassle to pick up groceries, but there’s a sense of seclusion.”
Eagle Crest is a private resort community just west of Redmond that offers an outdoorsy ambience without sacrificing urban convenience.

Modern condos and custom estates
Eagle Crest’s sizable housing inventory is mostly composed of modern homes and condos. Architectural styles vary, but ranch-style and Craftsman homes are common. Many properties take advantage of the views offered by the community’s hilly location with oversized windows and large patios. Townhouses and condos in Eagle Crest usually sell for between $450,000 and $700,000, while single-family homes can go for anywhere from $500,000 for cozy bungalows to $2 million for larger custom-built estates. Wildfire risk does affect parts of the community, which can affect housing prices.
Eagle Crest Resort amenities and tons of hiking trails
Eagle Crest Resort boasts extensive amenities, including three 18-hole golf courses: the Ridge Course, the Resort Course, and the Challenge Course, along with an 18-hole putting course. Three sports centers provide access to indoor and outdoor pools, a splash park, fitness centers and tennis, pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts. The Deschutes River, which borders the community to the east, offers opportunities for fishing and kayaking. The hills surrounding Eagle Crest are criss-crossed by an extensive unofficial trail network that is popular with hikers, runners and mountain bikers, and offers great views of Redmond and the surrounding areas.
Redmond public schools
Eagle Crest is within the Redmond School District, which has a B-plus grade on Niche. Tumalo Community Elementary School has a B-plus rating, while both Obsidian Middle School and Ridgeview High School have B’s. Ridgeview High offers dual enrollment courses through nearby Central Oregon Community College.
Close to Redmond retail and restaurants
While there are a few restaurants at the resort, including the popular Silverleaf Café, shopping and dining options in Eagle Crest are fairly limited. Residents usually head to central Redmond to get their shopping done—about an 8 mile drive. Central Redmond features multiple supermarkets, a Fred Meyer and a walkable downtown area that is known for its quaint boutiques and vibrant dining scene.
Golf tournaments at the resort and other events
Eagle Crest Resort puts on various events and activities throughout the year, most notably golf tournaments. Larger events and festivals can be found at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond, which is about 11 miles away and hosts everything from monster truck rallies to major music festivals.
Easy access to the Redmond airport
State Route 126 is the only way in or out of the community, connecting it to Redmond to the east and Sisters to the west. It’s about 8 miles to Redmond by car and 23 miles to Bend. Redmond Municipal Airport is the only major airport in the area, and offers direct flights to a dozen locations across the western U.S.
