Dunhams Corners offers a quiet suburban lifestyle in a convenient location
Near the western side of East Brunswick, Dunhams Corners is a suburban neighborhood with curving, sidewalk-lined streets shaded by trees. Nevin Ashamalla, a real estate sales associate at Coldwell Banker Realty who has lived in East Brunswick for 18 years, says the township benefits from a great location that edges the New Jersey Turnpike. “So it’s good for commuters, and it’s not completely suburb and not completely city — it’s half suburb, half city,” she says. “Dunhams Corners is especially close to houses of worship, close to temples, close to the mosque, close to many churches.” The area has a quieter, suburban feel compared to some other parts of the township, but residents don’t have to go far to reach the parts that feel a little more urban.
Single-family houses from about $650,000
Bi-level homes are particularly common in Dunhams Corners, but there are also a fair number of ranch-style houses and colonials. Anne Kofsky, a real estate sales associate at Coldwell Banker who has lived in East Brunswick for 42 years, says that while most of these homes were built in the 1970s, “what makes this community so nice is that people have invested hundreds of thousands of dollars into their homes to maintain the look and feel of the neighborhood.” There are also a few more recently built new traditionals. Ashamalla says home prices have risen in recent years, but East Brunswick generally has a larger range because of its mixture of house sizes and ages. In Dunhams Corner, homes typically start around $650,000 and can climb to just over $1.5 million. Kofsky says this price range gives residents room to grow. “If you want to stay in the community, you could start at a mid-priced house and move up to a larger, more expensive or even newer home, all within the same community,” Kofsky says.
Split-level homes are one of the most popular home tyles in Dunhams Corner.

Highly rated East Brunswick Schools
East Brunswick Public Schools gets an A from Niche, where it’s listed as the fourth-best school district in Middlesex County. Children can attend an elementary school like Warnsdorfer Elementary School from pre-kindergarten through fourth grade before moving on to Hammarskjold Upper Elementary School for fifth and sixth grades. Both schools have A ratings on Niche. They then attend Churchill Junior High School, which gets an A-minus, and East Brunswick High School, which gets an A. During the 2023-2024 school year, East Brunswick High’s team won first place in the New Jersey State We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution competition for the second year in a row. This competition involves a mock congressional hearing where students argue their positions on historical or modern political issues. Ashamalla also says there’s a peer tutoring program for students struggling with math or English.

Annual festivals at local churches, the community arts center
Ashamalla says that the neighborhood’s many houses of worship, which are mostly along Dunhams Corner Road, host festivals during the year. “We have Coptic churches who do festivals yearly for trying Middle Eastern foods,” Ashamalla says, adding that the entire neighborhood shows up in support. “Same thing with the Diwali; everybody comes, tries the food, dancing.” The Diwali festival is a newer addition to the neighborhood, Ashamalla adds, hosted by the East Brunswick Community Arts Center. There are also bigger township-wide events, including East Brunswick Day. Also held at the community arts center, the festival involves live performances, a petting zoo, face painting and more.
