A notably family-friendly, outdoorsy and active community

“People who live in Upper Westside are known for their activism and community spirit,” says Realtor Peter Hebert with NextHome WISCO Success. “I tell potential buyers that this is a great neighborhood for kids because there are a lot of young families. I also give them a word of gentle caution, as they will be encouraged to participate in the community life, which is busy and active.” As a Realtor in Eau Claire for the past four years, Hebert says he's familiar with life as a newcomer. “I moved to Eau Claire from outside Wisconsin, and I was amazed at how welcoming people were. Eau Claire has a spirit all its own. It’s also going through a major expansion, and that has ignited community pride. And it shows in our historic neighborhoods like Upper Westside. The homes here are all unique, and were built in several different decades from the 1880s to the 2020s."

The largest sculpture tour and Blue Ox Music Festival

“Eau Claire is an easy place to love,'' Hebert says. The city sells itself. From its parks and rivers, amazing food scene, farmers' markets, and emerging arts scene, fun is easy to find.” The Eau Claire Sculpture Tour is not only a display of free public art throughout the city, but it’s also the largest sculpture tour in the country. Its outdoor exhibit is year-round. Local businesses fund the tour itself to promote tourism, spur economic development and increase downtown revitalization. Music fans fill up campsites, hotel rooms and vacation rentals every June for the Blue Ox Music Festival. Held at The Pines Music Park, the three-day festival features Americana and bluegrass artists, including the Sam Bush Band, Watchhouse and Leftover Salmon.
