Creek Valley is connected to Minneapolis' best features
With State Road 62 bustling along the neighborhood’s northern edge, and State Road 100 less than 2 miles away, Creek Valley offers easy access to the surrounding Minneapolis metro from just west of central Edina. “The appeal of most Edina neighborhoods is the city itself, not necessarily the individual neighborhood,” says Sarah Polovitz. But the realtor with Compass, who has represented buyers and sellers in and around Edina for nearly a decade, says that Creek Valley’s appeal is unique. “It’s simple and maybe over-said, but location, location, location is really true here. You’ve got highly rated Edina schools and two big parks within walking distance, and it’s in a great, convenient area on the west side of town.”
The nearby Edina Mann Theater at 50th and France Ave. has first run films.

Mix of Cape Cods and newer builds on trimmed lawns with mature trees
You’ll find Cape Cod-style homes with dormer windows and classic white siding alongside midcentury ramblers and 1980s Split Levels lining the quiet residential streets in Creek Valley. The broad front lawns are well-maintained, often shaded by towering oak trees and colorful maple trees. Most homes have driveways extending before attached, front-facing garages, so you won’t see many cars parked along the winding streets. “There’s a mix of older and newer homes here. Edina, in general, is known for a lot of teardowns and rebuilds, so you’ll see a $500,000 house sitting next door to a $2 million-plus new construction home,” says Polovitz. True to the rest of the city, homes here range in price between about $600,000 and $1.5 million. The spectrum, even on the low end, is over the median for Minneapolis, which hovers closer to $300,000.

Edina High hosts public theater shows and scholar programs
Creek Valley students are served by schools in the highly sought-after Edina Public Schools district. Many go to Creek Valley Elementary, Valley View Middle and Edina High School, all three of which are conveniently located within the neighborhood less than half a mile from most homes. The community’s namesake elementary school is in the northwest corner, between Creek Valley Road and State Road 62. The middle and high schools are next to each other in the opposite corner, off Valley View Road. The three schools are highly rated by Niche. In 2023, both Creek Valley and Valley View earned A grades and Edina High earned an A-plus. Teens at Edina High can apply to become Edina Rotary Scholars, a three-year program in partnership with the Rotary Club of Edina, Edina Morningside Rotary and the Edina Education Fund designed to provide students with skills to prepare them for college and beyond. The Edina Performing Arts Center, between the high school and middle school, is where the Edina High School Thespians in the school’s theatre program perform. Shows are open to the public, drawing crowds from around the Edina community. Past shows the teen thespians have put on include Shrek, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid.

Creek Valley is close to big-box retail and atmospheric restaurants
For your groceries, you can head to the Edina Market & Deli, a quick mile-and-a-half jaunt south to the corner of Cahill Road and Amundson Avenue. Your local Jerry’s Foods is less than 3 miles northeast, up either Vernon Avenue or State Road 100. Polovitz says that for shopping beyond groceries, most locals head to Southdale Center and Galleria. The two shopping centers are less than 4 miles southeast of Creek Valley, off France Avenue. “Southdale Center is a nice shopping mall with big box retailers, and Galleria is a high-end, more upper-bracket, shopping center just across the street from Southdale with stores like Louis Vuitton, Pottery Barn and Tiffany,” she says. On the top floor of Southdale Center’s Restoration Hardware, you’ll find one of Polovitz’s favorite restaurants in town. “RH Rooftop is a really pretty restaurant. It’s got the look and feel of a glass solarium, and it’s all enclosed, so even during the winter months, you can feel the sun shining on you or see the snow falling.”

Nearby playgrounds and woodland trails in Bredesen Park
Neighborhood youngsters enjoy not only a short commute to class between preschool and fifth grade at Creek Valley Elementary but also easy access to the school park. With everything from a skating rink, sprawling playground, basketball hoops and soccer fields, the park is a great spot for kids to burn off some energy. Even in the winter, when the fields are covered in a thick layer of Minnesota snow, youngsters from around Edina flock to the hill heading down to the soccer pitch to sled. The larger, wilder Bredesen Park is also close by. Less than 2 miles north of Creek Valley, the park’s web of paved and boardwalk-style multiuse trails overlook more than 200 acres of naturally landscaped grassy fields and dense woodland.
