Dewey Hill

Dewey Hill

$614,828 Average Value

With Braemar Golf Course to the west and the Cahill industrial area to the east, Dewey Hill is a quiet community in a busy part of town. Though there are no schools, restaurants or stores directly within the neighborhood, homeowners here appreciate the residential respite from the highway-dense hubbub while still being just a stone’s throw away from all of Edina’s offerings. A variety of housing types also accommodate a variety of lifestyles, from families to young professionals, and with an array of amenities to boot. “There are condos that have tennis courts, pools and fitness centers,” says Han Zhong, a Realtor with Keller Williams Classic Realty with nearly a decade of experience selling homes around Minneapolis. “But there’s a park nearby too, and it’s not far from the shopping along France Avenue.”

You'll see a smattering of different homes while meandering past towering oaks and pines that curve around the neighborhood ponds. Sprawling modern builds with over 7,000 square feet list for over $2 million, but there are also more modest two-bedroom condos at a median price of $230,000. Even a handful of townhouses with two to three bedrooms are available for around $620,000. Other detached single-family homes, ranging in appearance from contemporary to Tudor-inspired, tend to have two stories and spacious lawns and sell for an average of $875,000.

Parents can send their little ones to public schools in the top-rated Edina Public School District. Kids start at Creek Valley Elementary before continuing their education at Valley View Middle and graduating from Edina High. All three schools score an A-plus from Niche, and Valley View Middle and Edina High are both ranked by Niche as the No. 4 best public middle and high schools in Minnesota respectively. Edina High rates high for college prep, with 85% of graduates in the Class of 2022 continuing their education at a four-year college or university.

Walk along the neighborhood's northeast corner and you’ll wind up at Lewis Park. The 21-acre park has something for every season. You can enjoy the fall foliage with an evening walk along the trails, where you might spot ducklings swimming in the ponds. In wintertime, be sure to keep your hands toasty after carving up the ice on the skating rink with the warming house. As the weather thaws, bring lunch for a spring picnic at one of the tables while the kids swing and slide on the playground or cheer on little athletes during summer soccer games on the park’s fields.

Travel outside the neighborhood to find chain and fast food restaurants along Edina Industrial Boulevard to grab a quick bite. You’ll find a couple of local spots like Wooden Hill Brewing Company, where you can sip on a craft beer and munch on “snacketizers” like their house chicken tacos. There are also several upscale hotel restaurants and bars like Lela, whose kitchen serving steak and crudos maintains a sleek but laidback atmosphere.

Pick up quick everyday needs at the Edina Market and Deli neighborhood market, just a few minutes north of Dewey Hill. You can also head 8 minutes east down Interstate 494 to pick up specialty groceries at Trader Joe’s and pop by other big box stores like Marshalls and World Market in the same shopping center. It’ll also put you near France Avenue, the go-to place for upscale shopping and dining in Edina.

Braemar Golf Course borders Dewey Hills to the west, within walking distance of some homes. Fans of the sport will want to book a tee time at the championship 18 course, which was recently remodeled and boasts scenic views. Others who prefer the city still have access to world-class museums and restaurants 12 miles away in Minneapolis, with State Highway 100 to the east outside of the neighborhood.
