Affordable ranch-style homes

The curved, lived-in residential streets of Elwood Heights are home to mature swamp Spanish oak trees. During the warmer months, they provide spots of shade where “Residents spent time walking about the neighborhood,” explains Head. Driveways large enough to fit one to two vehicles run parallel to the modestly sized front yards, leading to the brick facades of the community’s ranch-style houses. Homes in this community were constructed in the mid-20th century and can range from $220,000 for a three-bedroom home to $425,000 for a 6-bedroom, recently renovated house. The residential area of Elwood Heights is connected to a larger network of homes found in the communities to the east and northeast.
