Fairway Estates
Suburban Neighborhood in Edmond, Oklahoma
Oklahoma County 73034
Traditional homes on oversized lots
Large, traditional-style homes built between the 1990s and early 2000s line the tranquil sidewalk-lined residential streets. Some Contemporary-style houses feature floor-to-ceiling windows and starkly contrasting exterior color palettes, while others feature Spanish-style red-tile roofs. Many homes sit on large lots, some stretching close to half an acre. Prices in Fairway Estates range from $350,000 and $500,000, on par with nearby neighborhoods in northeast Edmond.Manicured greens at Kickingbird Golf Club
The Kickingbird Golf Club, Edmond's oldest and only municipal golf course, sits adjacent to the neighborhood, making it a large part of Fairway Estates' appeal. Homes along Outabounds Drive and Bay Hill Lane overlook the east side of the course, and it's not uncommon for residents to find stray golf balls in their backyards. "This is about as close to Kickingbird as you can get without living right on the golf course," says Realtor Alan VanHorn Jr. with Keller Williams Central Oklahoma. About 2 miles away, E.C. Hafer Park has several playgrounds as well as walking trails that encircle a duck pond.Edmond Public Schools receive high marks
Fairway Estates students attend schools in the highly rated Edmond Public Schools system. Many go to Northern Hills Elementary School, Sequoyah Middle School and Edmond North High School, all three with A grades from Niche. Home of the Huskies, Edmond North High has several sports programs that have won multiple state championships, including girls' soccer, boy's basketball and boy's golf among several others. The neighborhood is also minutes from the University of Central Oklahoma, a public university offering over 100 undergraduate programs.Locally grown produce at the Edmond Farmers Market
For groceries, many residents head to the Bryant Square Shopping Center, which has Walmart Neighborhood Market and other retail options. Chain restaurants and shopping centers line East 2nd Street, but there are also some local favorites along this thoroughfare. Eddie's is a go-to spot to watch Sunday games, serving pub grub and craft drinks. Downtown Edmond is 3 miles away, and South Broadway is lined with local shops and restaurants. Downtown is also home to the Edmond Farmers Market, a Saturday staple in the city since 1988, where local farmers and gardeners sell fresh produce and other goods.Interstate 35 provides commuting convenience
"Most people want to be here on the east side of Edmond because it's closer to Interstate 35, so they're not fighting traffic every morning," VanHorn says. Proximity to I-35 makes it easy for commuters to reach the central parts of Oklahoma City, about 20 miles away. Though most residents drive to get around, Citylink Edmond has bus stops along East 2nd Street. OU Health Edmond Medical Center, which offers emergency and laboratory services, is less than a mile away.
