Great schools, parks and location in Huntwick
Like many Edmond neighborhoods, Huntwick is popular among buyers for its prime location near Interstate 35 and access to stellar schools in the Edmond Public Schools District. Lined with sidewalks and towering trees, the northeastern Edmond neighborhood has the hallmarks of a traditional suburb, but connected neighbors and proximity to the emerging Uncommon Ground Sculpture Park make the community stand out. “It’s one of those neighborhoods that’s truly made wonderful by the people who live there,” says Steve Reeser, a Realtor with Keller Williams Central Oklahoma Edmond. “The folks here all take great pride in their yards and the appearance of their houses, and there’s a real sense of community in Huntwick that you don’t find in other neighborhoods.”

High schoolers can earn college credit through dual enrollment or get career training at Francis Tuttle Technology Center.
Younger students may attend Northern Hills Elementary.

Uncommon Ground is a work of art in the works
About 2 miles from the neighborhood, KickingBird Golf is Edmond’s oldest and only municipal golf course. The 18-hole course received a nearly $22 million renovation in 2023, including new greens, grass fairways and a new irrigation system. E.C. Hafer Park, also less than 2 miles from Huntwick, is an urban forest in Edmond and one of the most popular parks in the city. Wildlife abounds in the park; it’s common to see ducks and geese lazily swimming in the pond and clusters of turtles basking in the sunlight together. Kids scramble on the playgrounds and scale the rock wall, while a paved trail winds through the park under tall trees and past vibrant flowers. During the summer months, the park hosts a summer concert and fireworks on the Fourth of July. Residents are excited about the Uncommon Ground Sculpture Park, which is being built at the corner of Coltrane Road and East Second Street just down the street from the neighborhood. The former 62-acre Arabian horse ranch will be transformed into a public park with 40 sculptures, a dog park, and walking and biking trails that connect to the Edmond trail system. Officials are also planning a coffee shop and a restaurant on the grounds. “This is going to be something unique to the region and the state, even the Midwest,” says Savannah Whitehead, program director for the Edmond Fine Arts Institute, a nonprofit organization. “We’re in the process of building a new arts and event center in the park,” she adds. “We’ll have a 250-person capacity event space, classrooms for adults and kids, a sculpture studio and gallery spaces.”

Edmond's oldest dive bar
Second Street is lined with shops and restaurants, including Walmart and Target less than 2 miles west. Eddie’s is just down the street from the neighborhood and serves wings, burgers, salads and steaks. Live music on Fridays, karaoke on Saturdays, and cold drinks every day are the hallmarks of Cee Gee’s, the oldest dive bar in Edmond less than a mile away on Coltrane Road. Classic pub fare like loaded fries and fish and chips are the specialties of Pub W, an OKC chain on Second Street. There’s also a plethora of downtown Edmond eateries within a 3-mile radius such as Virginia’s Place, a local staple for a hearty home-style breakfast.

Traditional and midcentury modern homes between $310,000 and $550,000
Generous lots, well-kept sidewalks, mature trees and trimmed lawns characterize the neighborhood. Traditional and midcentury modern homes built in the ’80s and ’90s populate the streets and cul-de-sacs. It’s rare for houses to go on sale in the 200-home community: Only seven sales were reported in the 12-month span from August 2023 to August 2024. Homes between 2,200 and 3,000 square feet can cost $310,000 to $420,000, increasing in price with additional space. Larger homes with updates or amenities like a pool can range from $450,000 to $550,000.

Less than a mile from I-35
Downtown OKC is 18 miles southwest via Interstate 35, which is only a mile away from the neighborhood. “It’s somewhat secluded, so you don’t hear a lot of road noise, but we’re just a little bit more than a mile from I-35, which makes us an easy commute to Oklahoma City, to Guthrie, to downtown Edmond or wherever you might work,” Reeser says. Medical care is 3 miles southeast at INTEGRIS Health Edmond Hospital, and Will Rogers World Airport is 27 miles south.
