People feel at home in Thomas Trails
Community. That’s the word that comes to mind for Realtor Lenlie Foster when thinking of Thomas Trails. The top Realtor with eXp Realty says: “Community is the only word that encapsulates everything that makes this area stand out, from the location and the schools to the neighbors and even the homes themselves.” She explains: “There are American flags flying, now that fall is just around the corner, there are pumpkins going out, there are flowers in the gardens and potted plants on every stoop. It’s one of those neighborhoods where you instantly feel at home.” Her observations of the neighborhood could easily apply to Cheyenne Crossing, Cedar Pointe and Covell Village, the three major subdivisions that make up the wider Thomas Trails community, too. The three enclaves are all highly sought-after for their location, school district and neighborly atmospheres.
Thomas Trails has Traditional homes on suburban lots
You’ll find mainly Traditional-style homes throughout the three Thomas Trails additions, featuring the hallmarks of Oklahoman suburbs like tall wooden privacy fences and attached multiple-car garages. Prices here range from $240,000 to $480,000, with the median hovering around the $345,000 mark. That’s slightly higher than the median price for the larger metro, which sits at $315,000. Thomas Trails homes all tend to stay on the market for about a month, which is shorter than the national average of 38 days. But across the board, Foster notes that she and other local realtors are seeing longer days on the market. “We’re seeing substantially fewer showings right now, to the point that homes that might have sold within a day or two last year are now staying on the market for a little over a week,” she says, attributing the cooling to higher interest rates. “But realtors like to say: ‘You’re dating your interest rate and marrying your house,’ so the nice thing about the current state of the market is that if you’re buying now, you can do some negotiating and you can get the home you really want now without settling and work out a lower interest rate later,” Foster notes sagely.

Kids can go to A-rated public schools
Thomas Trails students attend schools in the highly sought-after Edmond Public Schools system. Many youngsters between preschool and fifth grade go to John Ross Elementary. Middle schoolers between sixth and eighth grade go to Cheyenne Middle while high schoolers finish up their grade school careers at Edmond North. Ross, Cheyenne and Edmond North all boast A grades from Niche. In 2023, Edmond North also earned a spot in U.S. News & World Report’s list of the best high schools in Oklahoma and a 9/10 GreatSchools Summary Rating. All three schools are less than 2.5 miles away from most homes in the neighborhood. Foster notes that the proximity of the schools is one of the primary draws to Thomas Trails. “It really adds to the community-oriented atmosphere of the neighborhood, not to mention that it’s ridiculously convenient for parents and their kids,” she explains.

Shops and restaurants are at the corner of Covell and Kelly
But highly rated schools aren’t the only nearby amenities Thomas Trails residents enjoy easy access to. Foster observes: “Right there at the corner of Covell and Kelly, there’s an Uptown Grocery, there are lots of restaurants, a Lowe’s and even a post office all within a couple of blocks.” The bustling corner is less than a mile and a half from Cedar Pointe and less than a mile from both Cheyenne Crossing and Covell Village. Foster adds that while she and many Edmond residents consider Edmond a “bedroom community” of Oklahoma City, this part of town is “like a community within a community.” She elaborates: “Covell is such a pretty street and offers so much to the neighborhoods branching off from it. You have the quiet, tranquil atmosphere of suburban neighborhoods with the urban convenience of a bigger city.”
