A blend of history and modern amenities

History and culture combine in Five Points, where modern amenities meet a rich and deeply rooted sense of community. "It's a very historical, eclectic area," says Heather Harmston, a local Realtor with Home Pros Real Estate. "The neighborhood has a very charming, vintage feel." That vintage feel is mainly due to the age of the neighborhood, which first came to prominence in 1917 when a group of businessmen decided to promote the area as a central business location. The idea of the neighborhood as a business location has continued to this day, with new restaurants and businesses opening up in recent years, bringing a vibrant lifestyle to the community. Historic charm is still evident here, though, with restaurants that have been open since the 1920s and the historic Concordia Cemetery, the resting place of several notable residents. Residents of this centrally located community also enjoy a vintage feel in the homes, as many are from the early 20th century and feature brick, stucco and adobe exteriors. Nearby parks add a touch of natural beauty and plenty of recreation to the area, while conveniently located schools give students a quick commute in the mornings.

Homes with historic charm

Homes in Five Points are a reflection of the neighborhood's historic nature, with brick, stucco and adobe varieties that date back to the early 20th century, along with Colonial residences and ranch-style homes. Most homes are one-story, with a few two-story options sprinkled in as well. "With large and small housing, beautiful remodels, and historical homes from the 1900s, you can expect the pricing to be as eclectic as the houses," Harmston says. "Smaller, more dated homes start at $150,000, and you can go up to $600,000 or $700,000." Sunny sidewalks allow residents to get outside for a stroll through the community, stopping to chat with neighbors along the way.

On the west side of the neighborhood is where residents will find newer popular spots like The El Paso Wing Factory and Dewey's Corner Pub. 2Ten Coffee Roasters offers Southern favorites such as chicken and waffles while hosting live music on its patio. For groceries, locals can shop at the Food King supermarket, known for its low prices. There is also Majestic Grocery, which is a local bodega in the neighborhood's northern end.
