A mountain valley community home to calm streets and friendly neighbors
Separated by Highway 67 to the west, East Side offers a calm setting away from the well-traveled streets of downtown Elizabethton. Consisting primarily of residential streets, the community fosters a laid-back, neighborly feel. “It’s a very friendly neighborhood where people wave to one another,” says Jimmy Street, a Realtor with Street’s Realty and longtime resident of Elizabethton. However, despite its sense of seclusion, East Side residents don’t have to travel more than 5 miles to spend time on the water at Wilbur Dam or frequent the local establishments and city-wide events of downtown Elizabethton.

Hilly streets and 20th century ranch-style homes
Most residents use Siam Road when navigating in and out of the community. The hilly mainline comprises both East Side Baptist Church and East Side Christian Church, as well as residential streets that break off from either side. Lining these quiet streets are ranch-style homes built throughout the 20th century. Reminiscent of the era are occasional attached carports and enduring concrete steps and pathways connecting the street to front doors. Though these homes present varying exterior finishes, from red brick to white vinyl siding, commonalities include unfenced backyards and views of the surrounding mountains. Prices range from $80,000 for a home in need of repair to $385,000 for a larger, recently remodeled home.
