Game nights are a big deal to Elks
Students in the area are part of Elkins School District, which has a B rating on Niche. The area's youngest learners begin their academic journey at Elkins Elementary School, which has a B-plus rating on Niche and continue at B-rated Elkins Middle School. Students wrap up their secondary academic journey at Elkins High School, which has a B-minus rating on Niche and is known for its sports teams. Games are live-streamed, and it's common to see the community come out and support the Elks on game night.
Elkins' natural areas, a hiker's paradise
Head outside to one of many hiking areas in the region. Rookery and Kingfisher Trail Heads begin beside Lake Sequoyah, about five miles from the neighborhood. The trails loop around the lake and lead into the mountains in the region, with vistas and lookout areas that provide magnificent views of the area. Outdoorspeople find the amount of hiking and nature in Elkins to be a significant draw to the area. For some recreation close to home, head to Bunch Park, which is located on the White River, which feeds Lake Sequoyah. The park has a walking trail that loops around the park. Residents can also enjoy sports courts and a playground.

Urban access via Route 16
U.S. Route 16 is the central route through Elkins and leads directly into Fayetteville. It's an easy drive into the city, thanks to Route 16, so residents retain easy access to the city while maintaining a rural sense of living. There isn't any public transportation in Elkins, so having a car is necessary for getting around.
