The Southern Grille of Ellendale is a longtime comfort food restaurant in town, serving dishes like dumplings, prime rib and flounder. Every Wednesday night at the Southern Grille is “muskrat night,” where patrons enjoy locally sourced muskrat. Residents can pick up some snacks and groceries from the Dollar General and Royal Farms in town, and the nearest supermarket is Food Lion, 6 miles east in Milton.

Ellendale is about 30 miles south of Dover and roughly 35 miles north of Salisbury. The DART bus has several stops in the neighborhood along Delaware Route 16, connecting Ellendale to nearby towns such as Milford, Lincoln and Milton. Ellendale’s nearest medical center is Bayhealth Hospital’s Sussex Campus, 7 miles north. Forty miles south, Salisbury Regional Airport offers flights to domestic and international destinations.
