Quiet opulence and easy access to amenities at Wildcat Run
Luxury and convenience draw buyers to Wildcat Run, a private golf course community in the heart of Estero. With only 450 homes, the community is less dense than neighboring gated communities. “Wildcat Run is known for larger lots and more land,” says Chad Damitz, a local real estate specialist and owner of Anchorpoint Real Estate. “They’ve got the Arnold Palmer course, and that appeals to people who really like golf.” Residents are within a short drive of two of the region’s best malls, Hertz Arena and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Wildcat Run has an Arnold Palmer-designed course
Wildcat Run Golf and Country Club recently received an $8 million renovation. The 18-hole course was designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer, and golf memberships for non-residents are hard to come by. Social membership is bundled with homeownership here, but residents can upgrade to a golf membership for a significant fee. In addition to the signature golf course, Wildcat Run features racquet sport courts, a fitness center and a short-game practice facility that was completed in 2022. After hitting the links, players can unwind in the spacious clubhouse. Known for their beauty and shelling, Bonita Beach and Barefoot Beach are about 14 miles away. “Personally, I like Barefoot Beach and Bonita Beach more than Fort Myers Beach,” Damitz says. “People from Fort Myers will go to those beaches because they're pristine.” Hertz Arena, home of the Florida Everblades professional hockey team, is close to home, too.
Wildcat Run residents enjoy the shelling and peaceful waters of Bonita and Barefoot Beach.

Large lots and custom-built homes at a higher price
“Wildcat Run has custom estate homes, so you can talk directly to the builder and do more custom building,” Damitz says. The community features a mix of condos and single-family homes, and many homes sit on lots between a one-third and two-thirds of an acre. Most condos cost between $300,000 and $650,000. Smaller, older contemporary Spanish Mission and Mediterranean homes can cost between $500,000 to $700,000, but most homes cost between $700,000 and $1.5 million. Prices increase based on size, age and renovations. The community has substantial HOA and other fees, which Damitz encourages homeowners to factor into the total cost of the home.

A short drive to Miromar Outlets and Coconut Point
Residents don’t have to leave the community to grab a bite to eat. The Clubhouse has fine dining, while the Grill Room is a more laid-back eatery with an indoor-outdoor bar and bocce ball courts. Two of the best malls in Southwest Florida are within a short drive of the community. Miromar Outlets boasts more than 140 name-brand and designer stores with goods at discounted prices. Shoppers can dine at Ford’s Garage, a local chain specializing in American fare. Coconut Point, another major shopping destination, is about 7 miles away. Publix, Florida’s grocery store of choice, is about 3 miles away.

Highly rated public schools and Florida Gulf Coast University
Students can start at Pinewoods Elementary School, rated the second-best public elementary school in Lee County by Niche and graded A-minus. Florida offers open enrollment, which means middle and high schoolers rank the schools they’d like to attend based on their attendance zone, and a lottery determines admittance. Three Oaks Middle School receives a B-plus, while Estero High School receives a B. The high school offers several career programs and academies, such as culinary arts and digital design. The area also has several private schools and charter school options. Florida Gulf Coast University is just a few miles away and is known for its nursing program and environmental studies at The Water School.
Three Oaks Middle School ranks above average in Math, Science and English.

Equidistant between Naples and Fort Myers
Corkscrew Road and Interstate 75 are heavily traveled and often congested, and traffic worsens during the peak season of mid-January through April. Naples and Fort Myers are within 25 miles, and Southwest Florida International Airport is about 10 miles away. Corkscrew Road has bicycle lanes, but the area is otherwise car-dependent. Like much of Southwest Florida, Estero has exploded in growth in the past few years, and traffic and frequent construction are pain points for residents.
Florida's hurricane season runs from June through November. Wildcat Run has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, lower than the national score of 4 out of 10.
