With the motto "Situated to Succeed," Fairburn capitalizes on its hometown feel and continues to grow its recreation, historic downtown and community events. "It's family-oriented and full of amenities," says Renada McMickle, a local Realtor with D.R. Horton Realty of Georgia Inc. with 20 years of experience. "I'm noticing people are buying based on the community there, the activities and everything. They are looking for those family-based amenities."
Fairburn is 20 miles south of Atlanta in Fulton County. The city was established in 1854 and is home to landmarks like the 19th-century Campbell County Courthouse, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. "The area boomed when the airport was built and became more of a blue-collar community," says Gary Nicholson, a Georgia native and Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. "People are tired of sitting in Atlanta's traffic, so there's been a shift back into moving to the suburbs, causing a rebirth."
The city's proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has long influenced its development, drawing in industries like manufacturing and trade. Employers such as US Food Services and Exel Logistics anchor the local economy, supporting a population of nearly 17,000.

Fairburn's new construction and large lots at Le Jardin
Fairburn has a median home price of $350,000, lower than Marietta's median of $473,500. The city features homes ranging from 650 to 6,500 square feet on lots as small as 1,700 square feet or as large as 15 acres. "Fairburn has a whole variety for every buyer in the market," McMickle says. Some homes date back to the 1950s, while new construction continues into 2024, with projects like the $45 million OSLO Apartments completed in 2024, bringing 288 multifamily units south of Interstate 866.
Infill development has become a trend, with buyers transforming three-bedroom, one-bath, 1,200-square-foot ranch-style homes by adding second stories or building entirely new houses. "The area is going through a rejuvenation and is becoming really popular," Nicholson says, pointing to upscale neighborhoods like Le Jardin. This community features estate homes on spacious lots selling for over $2 million.
