Community is big

About 10 miles to the northeast of downtown Cincinnati, Fairfax is a quiet suburb that is big on community events. “They have events all the time, from Party in the Park to a Santa event near Christmas time,” says Tina Mattix of Coldwell Banker Realty, who has 20 years of experience in the area. “It’s a spot where people raise their kids, and then those kids come back and raise their own kids.” The area has plenty of greenery, and trees are prevalent. There are excellent schools in the area, and the national chain Frisch’s has a piece of history in the neighborhood. “That’s the original Frisch’s there, and that’s a big deal to people around Cincinnati.” The neighborhood also features all the normal conveniences of most modern suburbs including chain grocery stores.

Ranch-style homes

The median price for a single-family home in Fairfax is $277,000. “Prices have gone up a bit in the past couple of years, but it’s still affordable for what you get,” says Mattix. The majority of homes are ranch-style builds, with a few Craftsman houses and bungalows in the area. Homes sit on smaller lots and are extremely close to one another. However, most of the houses do have private driveways for parking and small, private yards. The neighborhood features narrow streets, but sidewalks are convenient for dog walking and getting around Fairfax.
