Fairwood's many parks and rec opportunities

The biggest draw to the community is the acres of forests and lakes that cover much of the area. Lake Desire, also known as Echo Lake, is a favorite for fishing, kayaking and boating. McGarvey Park Open Space includes over 300 acres of mossy woodland with trails for hiking, mountain biking, and scenic overlooks. Mount Rainier can be spotted from Echo Peak, one of the highest elevation points in the park. Petrovitsky Park is a go-to for club soccer, and it also has athletic fields and a large playground with picnic seating. Fairwood Crest Community Park offers a basketball court, a playground and a large field. There are also two golf courses in the city, one public and one private to fit everyone's needs. The Lake Youngs Trailhead loops around the Lake Youngs Reservoir and is open year-round for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

From traditional to Northwest contemporary homes

Fairwood features a variety of home styles, with many planned communities that have walkable streets and quiet environments. There are communities with traditional homes, modern styles and Northwest contemporary styles. Homes built in the mid-to-late 20th century, such as split-levels and ramblers, can also be found. Closer to Lake Desire, there are estates with significant acreage, scenic views and private docks. On the outskirts of Fairwood, Maple Valley Heights is densely forested and more secluded, providing a more secluded neighborhood. Condos round out the neighborhood offerings, providing more flexible buying options. Because of its lakefront housing and larger lot sizes, prices for established homes to lakeside estates are on the rise. The median price of a home is $825,000 and the average sitting period for a property is 21 days, which is roughly half the national average.
