Multi-family housing in central Fall River
Niagara is a neighborhood centrally located in Fall River, a small Massachusetts city about 19 miles from Providence and 54 miles from Boston. Niagara has primarily multi-family housing and sits along Interstate 195, which connects to Providence. Boston commuters are increasingly moving to Fall River due to the construction of MBTA's South Coast Rail extension, which will connect the Fall River Depot to Boston. "That's been an enormous boom for Fall River and the housing market," says Fall River resident and Realtor with RE/MAX Vantage, Pamela Laliberte. "Homes have tripled in price in some cases. If people have to sell or want to sell, they're getting the absolute top selling price for their property."
Early 20th century multi- and single-family housing
"Niagara's central to the city," Laliberte says. "It's a mix of multi- and single-family homes with more multi- than single-family." Most of Niagara's housing was built in the early 20th century. These multi- and single-family houses often use traditional architecture and have units on at least three stories. Recent sales prices for single-family homes range from around $200,000 to $500,000, while multi-family properties start at around $400,000 and can sell for as much as $850,000. Most properties in Niagara don't have much yard space, as the homes tend to take home most of the lots, and some streets in Niagara do not have sidewalks.

The Great Feast of the Holy Ghost of New England
Fall River has a rich Portuguese heritage, and a big part of this culture is the city's Portuguese feasts, which are frequently held by local churches. "We're proud of the Portuguese culture," Laliberte says. "Between all the churches, you can probably find a Portuguese feast almost every weekend." The city's largest feast is the five-day Great Feast of the Holy Ghost of New England, an annual celebration of the Azores' culture. Held 2 miles west in Kennedy Park each August, this festival includes a parade, live music and a distribution of food blessed by the bishop.
