Rural residential living in San Diego County’s avocado-rich terrain
Known in North County as the "avocado capital of the world," inland Fallbrook feels relaxed and rural. Settled in the late 1800s by homesteaders who named it after a Pennsylvania coal mining town, Fallbrook is home to one of the county's oldest schools, and many of its downtown buildings are original. Olives flourished here in the 1920s, and today the area is replete with oak and avocado trees.
Fallbrook residents can spread out on equestrian properties and appreciate the walkable charm of historic Main Avenue. Jami Besecker, a San Diego native since 1978 and Broker with Keller Williams Carlsbad, says, "People who move to Fallbrook are looking for a different sort of lifestyle that's removed from busy suburbia. Here, you can ride your horses and raise chickens and goats. You won't find properties where you can do that on the coast. I've sold homes in Fallbrook, and my clients say you don't hear anything out here, and there's no light pollution."

Golfers play at the public Golf Club of California nearby, which is also a picturesque wedding venue.
