Seventy-First
Neighborhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina
Cumberland County 28304, 28314
Homes under $500,000 with tidy lawns
The flat, enclosed streets of Seventy-First are suitable for bike riding and dog walking. However, the sprawling nature of the neighborhood and its lack of sidewalks make it car-dependent. Properties sit on level, grassy lots, and home styles include New Traditional, newly built constructions and 20th-century ranch-style homes. Prices range from about $90,000 to $560,000, depending on square footage and age. Condos and townhouses range from about $170,000 to $250,000. Nearly half of residents are renters.Main roads connect Seventy-First to the city and beyond
Interstate 295 runs through the middle of the neighborhood, looping around Fayetteville and connecting to Interstate 95, the East Coast’s primary north-south highway. U.S. Route 401 runs east-west through Seventy-First and leads to downtown Fayetteville's pedestrian-friendly shopping and dining district. “If moving from a big city, it’ll feel like Fayetteville has no traffic problems,” Evans says. “We have a little touch of 5 p.m. traffic, but nothing compared to what I’ve been through in south Florida, which is horrible.” Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) buses take passengers throughout the city. Fayetteville Regional Airport is about 10 miles away. Seventy-First is between Hoke Hospital and Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, about 6 miles from each.Pipelines within Cumberland County Schools
Seventy-First contains a few different public-school pipelines, all of which are under the umbrella of Cumberland County Schools. The school district as a whole earns a B from Niche. Most students living in the neighborhood may attend Loyd E. Auman Elementary, rated C-plus by Niche, Seventy-First Classical Middle School, rated A-minus and Seventy-First High School, rated C. The Seventy-First High School football team has earned consistent success over the past four years and secured a win against Jacksonville in the 2024 regional championship.Indoor and outdoor recreation in western Fayetteville
Lake Rim Park offers recreation centered around its lake and pool. Lake Rim has fishing and boating access, and the adjacent John E. Pechmann Fishing Education Center teaches fishing lessons. Picnickers and kayakers can stop and admire the geese and ducks swimming around the water lilies that bloom in early summer. For a fee of $8, locals can use the park’s pool, which is equipped with lap lanes and water slides. Indoor recreation facilities like Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park and Round-A-Bout Skating Center host parties and offer open sessions for jumping and skating, respectively.Shopping and good eats along U.S. Route 401
Fuller’s Old Fashioned BBQ—a beloved local chain with more than 3,000 reviews—has a location along U.S. Route 401. Here, soul food lovers can find buffet-style fried chicken, hush puppies and, of course, barbecue. Juicy Crab, another highly rated local joint, is known for its Cajun-style seafood boil. Both restaurants are in Westside Village Shopping Center, which is anchored by Walmart Supercenter. More shopping and dining options lie further up U.S. Route 401 at Fayetteville Pavilion, like Food Lion, Buffalo Wild Wings and Marshalls.
