Residents find suburbia in Pennsylvania’s Feasterville community
Feasterville is an organized suburban network in lower Bucks County, part of the orbit of Philadelphia in southeastern Pennsylvania. The primary draw to the community is its proximity to the City of Brotherly Love. “It’s a bedroom community for Philadelphia,” says Dan Spirer, a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Fox & Roach Realtors. “Properties that I’ve sold in Feasterville and Bensalem, both pre- and post-COVID, were really for commuters in Philadelphia. It’s the first step into Bucks County; primarily a suburban sprawl near a large shopping mall, a ton of big-box stores and things like that.” The Pennsylvania Turnpike is close by, allowing residents to hop on the highway to other major cities nearby, and a small commercial corridor along Street Road lines the southern end of Feasterville.
Single-family housing variety in Feasterville
Feasterville offers residents a variety of housing options along suburban streets, though sidewalks for pedestrians are scarce. The most common architectural designs are colonial-style homes, ranch-style homes, Cape Cods and split-levels, primarily built in the latter half of the 20th century. “There is a lot of development from the 1960s and 1970s,” Spirer says. “There is a lot of suburban sprawl and a lot of tract Toll Brothers housing developments there,” he adds, referring to one of the area’s premiere home builders. Many single-family homes cost between $350,000 and $700,000.
Education within the Neshaminy School District
The Neshaminy School District serves the Feasterville area, earning a B-plus from Niche. Joseph E. Ferderbar Elementary School also gets a B-plus, while Poquessing Middle School receives a B. Neshaminy High School has a B-plus and has won over two dozen football championships in its program’s history.
Local restaurants line Street Road
The Fireside Inn is one of the area’s dining staples, serving patrons barbecue, seafood and more for nearly 50 years. Hazy’s Bar & Grill offers a sports-bar atmosphere and is a popular spot on Eagles game days, while Samarkand Steakhouse serves Uzbeki fare. More options sit along Street Road on the south side, including Hampton House Waffles & Eatery and Mochiatsu. Shoppers can choose from an ACME Markets or Giant along Street Road for groceries, or head about 3 miles east to Walmart for everyday needs. Close to the Walmart, the Neshaminy Mall has tenants like Aeropostale, Boscov’s, Barnes & Noble and AMC Theatres.
Nearby highways link Feasterville with Philadelphia
Residents can get around using personal vehicles or public transportation, which is available via SEPTA bus stops on Bustleton Pike and Elmwood Avenue. The Pennsylvania Turnpike and Route 1 are both less than 3 miles south; Route 1 connects with Interstate 295 about 7 miles away. Philadelphia is around 22 miles south, while Trenton sits less than 20 miles east. “It’s all right off 295,” Spirer says. “It’s definitely more of a commuter area for Philadelphia. On 295, you can also commute to Princeton fairly easily.”
