Craftsman-style homes from the mid-2010s are found along narrow, tree-lined residential streets. “The homes sit so close together that it’s like they’re stacked on top of each other,” says Bauer. “But they’re easy to maintain because the lots are so small, which second-home buyers here appreciate.” Most of these homes have shingle or wood-panel siding in earth-toned hues, as well as front porches with overhanging eaves and exposed beams; short driveways border up to two-car garages, and some homes have walkways to their front doors. When not strewn with gravel, front yards might be planted with miniature pines, young juniper bushes and mulch-packed flower beds. Sizes vary from 1,600-square-foot, three-bedrooms to 2,400-square-foot five-bedrooms; depending on the size, prices typically range from $550,000 to $750,000. “You’ll definitely see families out walking their dogs along the sidewalks, and kids playing in the streets because there’s very little through traffic. People aren’t coming over here unless they live here,” says Bauer.
