A North Florence suburb with nearby parks and top-rated schools
With tree-canopied yards and top-rated schools, Forest Hills is “one of the most popular neighborhoods in the whole City of Florence,” Samantha Lamb says. A University of North Alabama alum and local Realtor with South Main Realty, Lamb has sold homes in Forest Hills and the surrounding metro area. “I see a lot of families with young kids move into that neighborhood.” Corner playlots are tucked along street corners, and the local elementary school sits on the community’s east side. With nearby highways, Forest Hills residents can easily visit Deibert Park or get to the local grocery store without straying too far from home.
Tree-canopied split-level and ranch-style homes
Tall oaks and maple trees form a dense wall around Forest Hills, giving the community a more secluded feel. Along its winding streets, split-level and ranch-style homes sit on sloped lots canopied by overhanging trees. Inside, most houses have traditional floor plans with closed-off kitchens and cozy living spaces. Some are completely renovated with new wood flooring and stainless-steel appliances, while others have meticulously maintained interiors from their original construction in the 1960s and 70s. Yards here typically range from a third to a half acre, leaving plenty of room for folks to add a backyard pool, playset or patio. Home prices in Forest Hills are 15% higher than most neighborhoods in Florence. As of 2024, most listings range from about $200,000 to $450,000.
