Most single-family homes list between $80,000 and $200,000, and some fully remodeled properties fetch around $250,000. Yard spaces vary, but the median lot size is about a quarter-acre. Students can attend Minersville Area School District

Young students in first through sixth grade may attend Minersville Area Elementary Center, which scores a C-plus grade from Niche and shares the same campus as the Llewellyn Early Childhood Center. The primary school is part of the Schuylkill ACHIEVE Program and offers activities such as free homework and tutoring assistance, STEAM exploration, as well as academic enrichment summer camps and special field trips. Outdoor spaces in Minersville and beyond

Locals often head to Minersville and surrounding areas in the county for outdoor recreation. Minersville has soccer and softball fields, a community pool and a public skate park. Dustin's Adventureland is a recently opened all-inclusive playground. Slightly south of Minersville, Llewellyn Community Park has a children’s playground, basketball and tennis courts, a ball field and a picnic pavilion. Farther east, Pottsville has an ice-skating arena and a bowling alley. Big Diamond Speedway, which is a dirt track racecourse right outside the community, draws locals and tourists alike for its races and events such as potlucks. About 16.5 miles south of Forestville, Sweet Arrow Lake County Park is a popular place for fishing, kayaking, boating and playing disc golf.

Popular restaurants in Minersville’s downtown area include the Main Street Sandwich Shop and The Little Brown Barrel, which is known for classic gastropub fare and a cozy atmosphere. Farther south in Pottsville’s shopping center King’s Village, folks can find local restaurants such as Palermo Pizza. Grocery store options include Coal Town Supermarket, BG's Value Market and Family Dollar. Celebrating the seasons with summer concerts and winter markets

The Schuylkill County Council for the Arts, which is housed in the Frank D. Yuengling Mansion, organizes a variety of events throughout the year, including summer concerts, painting sessions and artist expositions. The Schuylkill Winterfest celebrates the winter holidays with a local market, live music and food, family-fun activities and a beer bar, which is sponsored by Yuengling. The beer company also organizes the Yuengling Stars & Stripes Summer Celebration with a concert lineup and fireworks. The Greater Pottsville Winter Carnival is another county-wide tradition since the 1970s, and every year the Queen of Snows is crowned at the beauty pageant ball. Additional events include the Schuylkill County Volunteer Firefighters Convention Parade, as well as celebrations for Independence Day and Halloween.

Proximity to Minersville

There are many medical centers located around Forestville, including Geisinger St. Luke's Care Now – Pottsville and the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill, both of which are within 6 or 7 miles of the community. Cities such as Allentown and Philadelphia are approximately 52 and 100 miles away, respectively. Allentown can be accessed via Interstate 78 East, and Philadelphia is down south through Interstate 476. The community is highly car-dependent, and Lehigh Valley International Airport is about 55 miles east.

History of mining in the area

There are a number of active mine sites around Forestville. Potential health and environmental hazards may include soil and groundwater contamination from abandoned mine drainage and harmful air pollution from coal mine dust. In 2023, the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement awarded a grant to Pottsville for an environmental reclamation project, which hopes to reestablish the ecosystem and treat the local water streams.
