Meadows East is an established suburb within proximity to dozens of miles of walking and biking trails. Located about 4 miles southeast of downtown Fort Collins, the neighborhood has tree-lined streets and manicured lawns just minutes from natural areas, including the Poudre River.
Meadows East is close to numerous expansive parks and trails. Stewart Case Park is nearby on Pinecone Circle and has a playground, a baseball diamond, open field space and a small pond. The Collindale Golf Course was the first public course in Fort Collins, with a clubhouse and evergreen-lined fairways. The Power Trail runs just west of the neighborhood. “It’s a concrete path that spans north to south through the suburbs of Fort Collins,” says Sherianne Daily, a local Realtor who has been working in Fort Collins for over five decades. “It can connect walkers and bikers to our natural areas and parks, along with dozens of miles of additional trails, like the Poudre Trail and Spring Creek Trail. As a city, we are known for being bike friendly, largely due to our extensive trail system.” The Prospect Ponds Natural Area has a mile of trails, picnic areas and ponds where anglers can catch bass, catfish and crappie. A short drive north is Ascent Studio Climbing and Fitness, a rock-climbing gym with bouldering, top-rope and lead-climbing routes, with the tallest walls reaching 49 feet.
The architectural scene in Meadows East is comprised of Colonial Revivals, ranch-style homes, split-levels and bi-levels. Homes sit close to each other on grassy lots, but mature trees and foliage provide neighbors with a degree of privacy. Fenced-in back yards and attached two-car garages are common. Most houses were built in the 1970s and '80s, with prices ranging from $425,000 to $680,000. There are train tracks to the west of the community, and homeowners may find the noise of passing trains disruptive.
Niche gives an overall A-minus grade to Shepardson Elementary School, Lesher Middle School and Fort Collins High School. Lesher has a variety of extracurriculars, from the Science Olympiad to rock climbing club. The high school, home of the Lambkins, has a wide range of college and career preparation, from a work-based learning program to dual enrollment courses with Front Range Community College. According to Niche, Fort Collins High is the fourth-best public high school in Larimer County.
The Shops at Rigden Farm, across Timberline Road, has a King Soopers and a handful of local restaurants. Genoa Coffee & Wine is a laid-back cafe serving locally roasted coffee, sandwiches, salads and baked goods. Krazy Karl’s Pizza and Sports Bar is a popular local chain with a variety of specialty pies. William Oliver’s Publick House has a rustic vibe and serves pub fare along with draft brews and Colorado-made whiskey.
East Drake Road, just north of the community’s residential streets, is dotted with Transfort bus stops. Trains cross East Drake throughout the day and can impact the flow of traffic. The area has a high Bike Score of 85 out of 100, with over 200 miles of bike lanes and trails across the city. Downtown Fort Collins is about a 4-mile drive away via Timberline Road and Riverside Avenue.
