Waterside recreation at the Horsetooth Reservoir
The neighborhood’s namesake park has open field space, a playground, paved walking paths and a basketball court. The Horsetooth Reservoir is the largest and most popular area for outdoor recreation in the Fort Collins area and lies just a short drive west of Rogers Park. In the summer months, visitors come from surrounding towns for weekend trips to the reservoir to waterski, tube, boat or relax on one of the sandy beaches. The Horsetooth Mountain Open Space borders the reservoir and has nearly 30 miles of mountainous trails for hiking and mountain biking. “My partner and I like that we are within an hour of so many recreation activities,” says Lucy Thomas, a Fort Collins local and frequent visitor of the Horsetooth Reservoir. “It only takes an hour to reach Rocky Mountain National Park and there are a lot of nearby spots for dispersed camping. You can really camp in a different spot every weekend for the whole summer without having to drive far from the city.”

Head to Old Town
Rogers Park is about a 3-mile drive from Fort Collins’s Old Town neighborhood via Mulberry Street. “Old Town is the place to go for dining out in Fort Collins,” says Mike Sibbald, a local Realtor with Elevations Real Estate. “Lots of residents will walk or bike to Old Town when the weather is nice. The hundreds of biking lanes and trails across town have helped with our congested parking downtown.” Commuters will also find numerous Transfort bus stops along West Elizabeth Street and South Taft Hill Drive.
