Colonial Country Club
Stucco finishes and palm trees 10 miles from Fort Myers
Condo buildings and single-family homes with Spanish-style architecture surround the country club and the many small lakes weaved throughout the community. Because sidewalks line each home and building, residents can easily walk to private amenities. Two-bedroom condos cost around $265,000, and three-bedroom condos cost closer to $400,000. Single-family homes have a higher price point, with two-bedroom houses beginning at $500,000 and three-bedroom homes costing over $800,000. Because initial construction in the community did not start until 2001, most properties were built around 2006. Amenities in the neighborhood continue to expand, but there are no plans to construct additional houses.Private racquet courts and public trails in Lee County
Residents benefit from private recreational opportunities, although options also exist outside the community. Racquetball, tennis and bocce courts sit across from the golf course, and the spa and wellness facility overlooks one of the neighborhood’s lakes. Though a mix of full-time and part-time residents, Colonial Country Club includes amenities like a swimming pool and sundeck, allowing locals to enjoy a vacation itinerary without leaving the community. For walks through nature, there are multiple public green spaces within a 10-mile radius. “Six Mile Slough is a boardwalk, and then you also have the Lakes Park, which is a nice outdoor park where you’ve got walking trails and bike trails around big lakes,” says Damon Vetere of Coldwell Banker, a Realtor living and working in the Fort Myers area.
Card games in the clubhouse and live music at the Sunset Grille
Known for its connected nature, the community invites neighbors to interact at social events held throughout the Colonial Country Club. Every day brings new options, from Texas Hold ‘em games in the activities room to Entertainment Night at the Sunset Grille. For those looking for athletic events, the community’s tennis facility hosts leagues, lessons and socials for players of all skill levels.
Shops and stops on Colonial Boulevard and 6 Mile Cypress Parkway
Shopping centers with regional and national retailers and restaurants surround the neighborhood. While Winn-Dixie is the nearest grocery store on Treeline Avenue, Walmart Supercenter and Publix Super Market are about 3 miles away. For home furnishing or improvement needs, residents can reach Target and Lowe’s Home Improvement in less than 5 miles. Along Colonial Boulevard and 6 Mile Cypress Parkway are chains like Chili’s Grill & Bar and Buffalo Wild Wings, but the country club includes its own restaurant, the Sunset Grille. For other locally owned restaurants and shops, residents head 10 miles west to downtown Fort Myers.
Public and private school options north of FGCU
Kids in the neighborhood are divided between private and public schools. Part of Lee County Public Schools, the community gains access to a district that ranks in the top 15 best districts for athletes in the state, according to Niche. Most students begin at B-graded Treeline Elementary before transitioning to C-plus-graded Varsity Lakes. From here, students attend Lehigh Senior High, which earns a B-plus and offers a Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education. Outside of the public schools, “there are a lot of private schools that do pretty well. Bishop Verot is one, and Canterbury has football programs, but the most notable school that we have is our college, Florida Gulf Coast University,” Vetere explains. Private schools in the area work with FGCU to offer dual enrollment opportunities to students.Connected via I-75
Colonial Boulevard connects the neighborhood to all of Lee County, and Interstate 75 allows residents to head north or south of Fort Myers, with a ramp about 5 miles away. While no buses can enter the community, there are bus stops across Colonial Boulevard for those looking to head downtown while keeping their car parked at home. For travel outside the neighborhood, the Southwest Florida International Airport is about 10 miles south, close to JetBlue Park.Multiple hospitals and urgent cares close to home
For medical care, Lee Memorial Hospital is 8 miles west, and Gulf Coast Medical Center is 10 miles southwest. Multiple urgent care facilities, including Lee Convenient Care, are also located within a 10-mile radius.
