Palm trees and lakeside living 12 miles from downtown Fort Myers

Reflection Isles is a gated community settled next to marshy woodlands, and a 2000-acre preserve in Fort Myers. Although Interstate 75 lies a short distance to the east, the forest acts as a natural barrier, creating a sense of quiet seclusion. "Reflection Isles is a hidden gem. You cannot tell, looking down the road half a mile, that there's a community in there," explains Craig Allenbaugh, a former resident and a Realtor with CoastalEdge Real Estate. The neighborhood maintains a cozy, laid-back atmosphere. Locals have access to resort-style amenities and nearby retail corridors.

Condos, villas and houses in Reflection Isles

Inside Reflection Isles, most homes are next to artificial lakes, while others stand beside clusters of woodlands. Along the private streets are townhomes, villas and New Traditional houses with Mediterranean influences. These properties were built between the 2000s and 2010s. It's common for homes to come with backyard heated pools and multi-car garages. Buyers should expect to pay a monthly charge to the homeowners association. "For the fees in Reflection Isles, you get a lot: internet, basic cable package, all your lawn and landscaping handled on the outside of your property and once-a-year mulching of all the planter beds," Allenbaugh says. The community offers more affordable price points than other nearby developments, such as Renaissance. Attached homes can cost between $340,000 and $420,000; single-family houses usually sell for $400,000 to $750,000. A handful of dwellings stand outside the planned development, on the southern end; however, these properties rarely come on the market.

Private pool, recreational spaces and Six Mile Slough Preserve

Locals may opt to stay within the gated development to enjoy a private amenity center and a range of outdoor activities. "[Reflection Isles has] a nice little tot lot that butts up to the swimming pool, a fitness center, a single basketball court, and sidewalks throughout the community so that everyone gets their exercise. And tennis courts [are] in the back," Allenbaugh says. Outside the private development awaits the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. Visitors can use the trailhead off Morgan Hill Road to connect with other walking paths among the forested wetlands.

Locals are roughly 13 miles from downtown Fort Myers, while Southwest Florida International Airport is about 8 miles away.
