Colonial Park, small but well placed
Wedged between two busy thoroughfares in town, Colonial Park may be small in size, but its location is a prime spot. “You have easy access to parks and shopping centers on both sides of the neighborhood,” says Rick Fletcher, Realtor with North Eastern Group Realty who has sold Fort Wayne for 16 years. “And if you need it, one of Fort Wayne’s largest private schools is caddy corner from the neighborhood.”
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School is a private Catholic school for students grade 9 to 12.
Colonial Park is centrally located for easy access to shopping and schools.

Happy-hour haunts and a night of ha-ha's
Colonial Park sits beside Washington Square, a small shopping center. Residents can shop for specialty groceries at Magadoo Asian Grocery, pick up small essentials at Dollar General or grab a bite from Jalapeños Mexican Grill. However, 1 mile east of the neighborhood is Marketplace of Canterbury, a larger center with more diverse options. Locals can start their day at Breakfast Clubb, a Greek-owned mom-and-pop serving American breakfast classics and hot coffee. The Corner Pocket Club is a favorite happy-hour haunt for casual bar food bites and billiards. For a special night out, locals can have a laugh at Summit City Comedy Club or dance the night away at Piere’s Entertainment Center.

It also sits beside 1 mile of riverbank, so parkgoers can run along the St. Joseph River or use the park’s boating ramp space to start their day on the water. Local Realtor Simmie Upchurch Jr. of Coldwell Banker Commercial shares another popular spot to get fresh air, although it’s a bit out of the way at 4-1/2 miles away: “You got the Pufferbelly Trail where a lot of people do their morning jog. A lot of people walk their dogs on that, too.”
There are numerous trails to choose from at Fort Wayne's Shoaff Park.
Colonial Park residents are a short drive to 18 holes of golf at Shoaff Park.

Families and retirees alike welcome
Colonial Park’s housing stock is a mixture of Cape Cods, ranches, split-levels and contemporary-style properties. These properties feature spacious front yards that are well-kept and usually dotted with tall trees that provide shade for the home and the narrow street below. Prices depend on property size, but most properties sell between $200,000 and $260,000. The market is fast-paced, and homes average just four days before being sold. “It’s a popular area,” Upchurch Jr. says. “Ten homes were sold in that specific neighborhood just in the past year.” While not single-family housing, The Towne House Retirement Community is also part of Colonial Park. The development offers individuals 62 and over a place to live without worrying about household responsibilities. The community offers assisted living, rehab services and memory care, as well as amenities like a fitness center, a library and dining venues.
