A trendy zip code in Northeast Fort Wayne
Home buyers find themselves at a crossroads when they reach a newer Fort Wayne neighborhood such as Kirkwood. Literally, in this case, the intersection of Crescent Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard, and figuratively at an area with a different history than more-established parts of the city. “When Fort Wayne started, people lived on the south side of town,” says Realtor Nancey Weaver of Keller Williams Fort Wayne. “Now, in the last 20 years, the newer area is more north.” The location means plenty of entertainment, bars, a nightlife and arts and culture -- as are two campuses of major state universities. All things considered, Kirkwood and the buzz around it tends to draw a younger, working-age crowd.
