Within 2 miles of the community, you can pick up groceries from Aldi or Costco Wholesale and shop big-box stores like Kohl’s, T.J. Maxx at Northcrest Shopping Center or peruse the many retailers of Glenbrook Square mall. “It’s the largest mall in the city and is one of the area’s popular spots for shopping,” says Angela Zimmerman, a local Realtor with Wyatt Group Realtors who has four years of experience in the region.

Ranch and split-level-style homes line the community
Northcrest’s residential roads curve through the community and often lead to cul-de-sacs. Here, 20th-century ranch and split-level-style homes rest back from neat sidewalks at the end of short driveways. These houses often feature attached or detached garages and minimal landscaping, such as old-growth trees and shrubbery along the front exterior. Depending on size and condition, prices range from the mid-$100,000s to the high $200,000s.

Recreation ranges from Fort Wayne Zoo to fishing and live music
Residents head out of the community for outdoor fun. Johnny Appleseed Park is nearby on the western banks of the St. Joseph River. The green space offers athletic facilities, a playground and a boardwalk for fishing. The Fort Wayne Zoo is located just over 3 miles away, and is a popular destination alongside the Foellinger Theatre, which hosts local productions and live music. “The neighborhood is also close to the coliseum [Allen County War Memorial Coliseum],” Zimmerman. They host the minor league hockey team and a lot of concerts there. It’s a big draw to the area.”
The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo is a great place for Northcrest families to spend the day.

Students can apply to attend any school in the district
Fort Wayne Community Schools serves the neighborhood and offers School Choice Lottery, allowing students to apply for the chance to attend any school within the district. Schools that children living in Northcrest are zoned to include the highly rated Mabel K. Holland Elementary School and Northrop High School. Bishop Dwenger High School is also highly rated and one of several local private options.
Northcrest Elementary is within walking distance for neighborhood kids.
Northcrest children may attend Northwood Middle School.
Northcrest students may attend North Side High School.
Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School is a private Catholic school for students grade 9 to 12.

Commutes to downtown and other parts of the city are quick
Its location and quick access to nearby roadways make Northcrest a commuter-friendly community. “Convenience is key in Northcrest,” says Justin Walborn, a local Realtor with Mike Thomas Associates, who was born and raised in Fort Wayne. “You can get downtown within 10 minutes, to the airport [Fort Wayne International Airport], and it's accessible to the rest of Fort Wayne.” Locals can make the 4-mile drive into downtown or take the 30-minute ride into the city’s center via Citilink buses, which serve stops along Coldwater Road. Interstates 69 and 469 are also easily accessible to the north, supporting travel across the region.
