A park-like Fort Worth suburb near big-city amenities
Northwest Fort Worth’s Creekwood community combines the conveniences of a big city with suburban amenities, wrapped in a country feel with lakes, trails and a greenbelt that stretches for miles. “You’re within driving distance of Fort Worth, where there are lots of employment opportunities, but you’re living in a quiet neighborhood filled with water and green spaces,” says Realtor Desiree Milligan of Keller Williams Realty-Dallas DFW Southlake, who grew up in a nearby community. Houses are built into a park-like atmosphere with miles of forested green space encompassing the enclave. Proximity to two major thoroughfares provides access to downtown Fort Worth in 12 miles and the rest of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
There are many ponds in Creekwood.
Creekwood residents enjoy proximity to open spaces while staying connected to the city’s core.

Park-like community amenities, trails and an 8,000-acre lake nearby
Creekwood is half a park and half a planned subdivision. It hugs a greenbelt that comprises nearly 300 acres and connects through a trail system. "Finding open spaces is not always easy anymore, and Creekwood’s are beautiful,” Milligan says. Creekwood Park is enclosed by one of Creekwood’s subdivisions, and to get there is a short walk for those who live on Fall Wood Trail. This park offers ponds lined by walking trails, footbridges across swales and wildlife-watching points along its wetlands. The 246-acre Northwest Community Park, in the neighborhood’s western corner, is the fifth-largest park in Fort Worth. Connected to Loughridge Lake, the park has soccer and baseball fields, an observation deck, natural hiking trails, a fishing dock and a waterfall. Kayaking and fishing are also popular at the park’s lake. Chisholm Ridge Park is 2 miles east of Creekwood and features a playground and 31 acres of picnic space. Boaters or those looking for lakeside fun are 9 miles from the 8,000-acre Eagle Mountain Lake, a hub for outdoor recreation for the area. “It’s one of the closest lakes to a major city; you can ski, fish or boat, and there are plenty of boat ramps,” says Chris C. Walters, Broker and former Realtor. Walters, who lives in Argyle, Texas now, lived near the lake from 2017 to 2022. He runs LakeHub.com, a platform spotlighting over 100 lake communities for over 25 years. “It’s a medium-sized, family-friendly lake good for catfish and bass fishing, and you can swim, too,” he says. “There are three restaurants on the lake that have docks. It is nice to pull up to the restaurant bars and have lunch or dinner. Several of them have live music at night.” Party Cove is a lively spot where fellow boaters come to tie up their boats and hang throughout the summer on the northeast side of the lake. “It can be a place to hang out for some people, but it can get a little crazy sometimes,” says Walters.
Shaded areas and open paths make this Creekwood playground a family-friendly retreat.
The lake at Northwest Community Park is ideal for fishing or simply enjoying the water views.

Surrounded by shopping and dining
Most shopping and dining options are off Highway 287 and Interstate 35W. Blue Mound Café – Saginaw is a local favorite for chicken fried steak, breakfast classics and other comfort foods. Anchored by Costco, Presidio Town Crossing is 5 miles away and offers WinCo Foods, Petco, Target and T.J. Maxx. Hawaiian Bros Island Grill is also located here and is known for its Huli Huli chicken, spam musubi and Dole soft serve. On the other side of Interstate 35W, across from this shopping plaza, is Alliance Town Center. “Alliance has everything you could dream of, from restaurants to theaters to medical facilities,” says Milligan. “You’re very close to the cultural aspects of Fort Worth, including the museums; you could easily do all this in a weekend.” The shopping center has a range of department stores, boutique stores and national chains. Billy Bob’s Texas is one of the most popular spots in the area for a night out. Eight miles south in Rodeo Plaza, the famed country music honky tonk has a live bull-riding arena, line dancing and pool tables. Decked out with country music memorabilia, the venue also hosts cowboy-themed murder mystery shows with characters like Buffalo Joe and Catastrophe Kate. Billy Bob’s “Honky Tonk Kitchen,” the restaurant inside the entertainment venue, serves up barbecue sandwiches, burgers and chili dogs.

Ramblers and traditional homes in a park-like setting
The tree-lined neighborhood has a lake at its center, with large open green spaces and paved walkways meandering throughout. Creekwood is filled with ranch-style homes and two-story brick and stone traditional homes. Most were built in the early 2000s and range from the low $300,000s for a 2,000-square-foot three-bedroom to the low-$500,000s for a 3,000-square-foot five-bedroom. Lot sizes average around 10,000 square feet but can span up to a quarter acre or more. Most properties have multi-car garages with spacious paved driveways. Many dwellings also have in-ground pools and fenced-in backyards. Community amenities include a clubhouse, a pool, a playground, fishing ponds, and more than 2 miles of biking and walking trails. The neighborhood also has a CAP Crime Index score of 2, lower than the national average of 4.

Twelve miles from Downtown Fort Worth
Highway 287 is 3 miles east of Creekwood, connecting to Interstate 35W and providing access to the rest of the area. “We’ve seen this huge increase in traffic to the area,” Walters says. “More people are realizing they can work from home, but if you needed to commute, you’re less than 30 minutes from Fort Worth and less than an hour from Dallas.” Downtown Fort Worth is 12 miles away, Fort Worth Meacham International Airport is 6 miles away, and Dallas is a 39-mile drive. Proximity to the airport does cause some airport noise. There is no public bus transportation in Creekwood. Medical City Alliance is the closest hospital, 5 miles northeast.
Easy access to I-35 makes Creekwood a prime location for commuting and exploring Fort Worth.
From live music to line dancing, Billy Bob’s Texas has entertainment for everyone.
