Waterfront living 22 miles from downtown San Francisco
In the heart of Foster City, a master-planned city 22 miles south of downtown San Francisco, lies the waterfront neighborhood of Treasure Isle. Bridges over manmade canals connect three small residential islands to the mainland, where most homes are located. Homes were built in the mid-1960s, making it the oldest neighborhood in the city. Only the homes on the islands and along the mainland’s perimeter have waterfront views. But all residents can access the water for kayaking, canoeing and other recreation using public boat launches like the ones at Leo J. Ryan Park and Foster City Dog Park. The surrounding low-lying areas are at risk for flooding, but levees protect Foster City.
1960s constructions in master-planned community
Treasure Isle has wide streets and homes situated close together on compact lots. Single-family homes tend to be on the northeast side of Foster City Boulevard, a main road that bisects the neighborhood. Three developers built the residences, interspersing the neighborhood with varying yet cohesive midcentury and ranch-style homes. The HOA organizes movie nights, yard sales and holiday celebrations for residents. Prices range from about $2 million to $2.7 million. However, over half of Treasure Isle properties are apartments, and there is a higher percentage of condos than single-family homes.
Treasure Isle contains numerous variations on the ranch style home.
Low mid-century modern homes cluster in central Treasure Isle.
