Conveniently located on the east side of Salem

Situated on the east side of Salem between East Lancaster, Northeast Salem and Southeast Mill Creek, Four Corners is a suburb that makes it easy to enjoy Oregon’s capital city at a lower price point. Two highways connect to major employers, such as Oregon State Hospital and Oregon Department of Corrections, as well as food packaging and distribution centers. Newly constructed, modern homes have come to Four Corners to accommodate the people who now live in the neighborhood and commute into Salem. “I think convenience is probably one of the better attributes of that area,” says Stacy Cardoza, a principal broker with Real Broker who has been selling homes around Salem for 24 years. “It has proximity to everything and easy access to the freeway. It’s really easy to get to a lot of the other areas of town.”

Modern, new homes in East Village Park

Most properties in Four Corners are single-level ranch-style homes or manufactured residences built between the 1960s and 1990s. Manufactured homes sell for $50,000 and $150,000, while single-family ranch properties can be $300,000 to $400,000. Subdivisions like East Village Park have newly built, multi-story Craftsman homes that sell for $400,000 and $500,000. Most streets are surrounded by narrow sidewalks, small yards and scattered pine trees for a touch of Pacific Northwest scenery. “There’s a good blend of both single-level and multi-story properties,” Cardoza says. “There are also multifamily duplexes, so it’s a pretty eclectic mix of styles.” Because these properties are technically outside Salem city limits, homeowners will pay slightly lower taxes than they would within the city.

Career and college prep at South Salem High School

Four Corners is part of the Salem-Keizer Public Schools, which has a B-minus grade on Niche. Four Corners Elementary School and Houck Middle School have C-minus grades. South Salem High School has a B-plus grade and is in Niche’s top five high schools in the county. Students can take technical education classes in broadcast journalism, graphic design, and sports medicine or enroll in dual credits at Chemeketa Community College. The college is 4 miles from Four Corners, and Willamette University is 3 miles away in downtown Salem.

Commuting on Santiam Highway

Two major highways in Four Corners connect the suburb to some of Salem’s biggest employers. Santiam Highway leads west to Salem Hospital, while Interstate 5 is the most convenient route to some of the food processing plants and correctional facilities in the Southeast Mill Creek area. I-5 also connects to Portland and the Portland International Airport, 48 miles north. Salem Area Mass Transit District — known as Cherriots — has two daily bus routes on State Street and Lancaster Drive.

Bike riding and sports at Geer Community Park

Four Corners is close to many sports-focused parks and facilities. Geer Community Park on Park Avenue has baseball and soccer fields, while Pioneer Sports Park on State Street is home to the Capital Futbol Club, a youth soccer organization. Cascades Gateway City Park on Turner Road has an 18-hole disc golf course, while Meadowlawn Golf Course off I-5 is a nine-hole, par-32 course open to the public. Four Corners Rod and Gun Club between Four Corners and Fruitland has rifle shooting and archery ranges. The area also has Julie's Four Corners Community Garden, operated by the Trinity United Methodist Church on Elma Avenue.

Rotating cuisine at The Yard Food Park

Lancaster Drive is the main commercial corridor, with grocery stores like Fred Meyer, Roth's Fresh Markets and WinCo Foods and nightlife spots like The Pink Elephant Tavern. The Yard Food Park is near the intersection of Lancaster Drive and State Street, and this modern food court has a full bar and rotating carts offering barbecue, seafood and cheesesteaks. Nancy Jo’s Burgers & Fries, a local fast-food chain serving Salem for over a decade, has a location in Willamette Town Center. This large mall on Center Street has a movie theater and clothing, home goods and cosmetic stores. Salem Center, which has over 70 shops, is 3 miles away.
