Developed community between downtown Denver and Aurora

Despite what its name suggests, Four Square Mile is a little more than half the size, filled with residential neighborhoods, commercial corridors and green spaces. Growth in the 1980s led to area-wide new developments, which continue to serve today’s population of about 23,000 people. The unincorporated city sits roughly 8 miles southeast of downtown Denver and about 7 miles southwest of Aurora, giving the suburban enclave ample access to retail and employers. “Four Square Mile is attractive to younger people who are just starting their careers. The area is within proximity to many employment centers, including medical centers to the east, downtown Denver to the West and the Denver Tech center to the south,” says Gretchen Ricehill, Project Specialist for Arapahoe County’s Public Works and Development Department, who is working on the Four Square Mile Subarea Plan.
