A short commute to several Fremont employers
The neighborhood of Parkmont is a sweet spot for Bay Area workers and families who want easy access to Fremont’s thriving industries, natural beauty and highly rated schools. Heavy hitters in manufacturing, high-tech and biomedicine like Meta, Western Digital, Thermofisher and Tesla are within easy commuting distance. To the neighborhood’s east lies a major Kaiser medical complex, and just beyond, a business and commercial district on its way to becoming a thriving downtown. “We’re getting more high-tech companies. People don’t have to go too far out of town—they can live and work right here,” says Beth Wong, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker and a member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.

Spotting wildlife at Quarry Lakes Regional Park
Parkmont hugs up to Quarry Lakes Regional Park on the north, which features an abundance of wildlife, including bald eagles and coyotes. Shinn Historical Park & Arboretum is another bright spot, with small concerts on the lush lawn and tours of the 1876 historic home and gardens. “The gardens are very pretty,” says Wong. “They have community events and people take pictures and go there for their weddings.” Parkmont is less than 2 miles from Fremont’s Central Park, where activities include golf, hiking and skateboarding. A water park features a lazy river and splash pads and holds free weekly concerts near Lake Elizabeth in the summer. The developing downtown area holds a weekly food truck event, Fremont Sweet Eats, and parades marking the holidays. The annual Festival of the Arts features wine, gourmet food samples and arts-and-crafts booths. “There’s an event center and more stores and restaurants down there," Wong says. "We’re working to make it a place for people to gather."
