Master-planned community near Temecula Valley
Bachelor Mountain is a defining view of Morningstar Ranch, a nearly 600-acre master-planned community of over 1,300 homes. “It’s suburban sprawl with an HOA and centered around a community park," says Tom Bashe, an associate broker with Localist Realty with over 20 years of real estate experience. "There’s Morningstar Ranch and Morningstar II, an expansion of the neighborhood, but most people don't have a preference." The neighborhood broke ground in 2004 and has steadily built over the last decade, with residents within walking distance of A-rated schools and less than 15 miles from Old Town Temecula. The neighborhood also has a CAP Index Crime Score of 2, lower than the national average of 4.
Highly rated schools with STEM programs

Chaparral High School has an A and offers Career and Technical Education courses, including a Medical Assistant Pathway with certification and college credits. Families can apply to the A-rated Temecula Preparatory and Temecula Valley Charter School, which has an A-minus grade.

Walkable to parks and sports fields
Morning Star Park on Geranium Street is a quiet, hilly stretch of trees with a shaded playground and a small parking lot. Brookfield Park and Abelia Sports Park have soccer fields, basketball courts and sand volleyball courts, often filled with local teams practicing for the French Valley Baseball and Softball Association. French Valley Library on Skyview Road stays busy with book clubs, bingo nights and art classes. Less than 10 miles away, Lake Skinner Recreation Area has tree-lined shorelines for fishing and trails for hiking and horseback riding. Swimming isn't allowed, but the reservoir supplies the county with water from the Colorado River.

Mediterranean houses with pools
Streets like Tulip Ranch Circle and Orange Blossom Drive wind through the community. Mediterranean Revival-style homes span around 3,000 square feet along cul-de-sacs and well-paved roads with sidewalks. Houses feature double garages, in-ground pools suited for California's triple-digit summers and often solar panels. “California didn't enact a regulation for solar panels until 2022. Residents in the neighborhood have leased solar panels independently," Bashe says. Most were built in the early 2000s or mid to late 2010s and have four to five bedrooms, with prices ranging from $685,000 to over $1.1 million.

Spending the day in Old Town Temecula
Morningstar Ranch is about 3 miles from national retailers and regional chain restaurants. One of the few small businesses in the area, Skybox Grill & Tavern draws in regulars with its sports games on TV, breakfast offerings and daily taco specials. Grocery Outlet is the closest grocery store, with big box retailers like Costco, Home Depot and Target near the 215. “One of the benefits of this area is the Clinton Kieth Road project, which connects Winchester to the 215 freeway," Bashe says. “Before that, people would just go down to Winchester Road. They also like shopping in Murrieta or Promenade Temecula." The neighborhood is less than 15 miles from Old Town Temecula, which Bashe says is known for its growing nightlife, antique stores and restaurants.

Commuting to San Diego and Los Angeles
Interstates 15 and 215 are referred to regionally as the 15 and the 215 freeways. These arteries make commuting to San Diego and Los Angeles under 90 miles. “People commute to [those cities] because many only go in the office a few days a week. Those heading to Los Angeles can drive to Corona and take the train. But, they are looking at over an hour to two-hour commutes," Bashe says. Locals can get around the city with bus stops on Pourroy Road, run by Riverside Transit Agency. The neighborhood is less than 15 miles from Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital. John Wayne Airport is around 70 miles away in Santa Ana.
