Spencer’s Crossing is a master-planned community from the early 2000s
Paved walking paths bordered by greenery weave between homes and thoughtfully placed parks in Spencer’s Crossing, a master-planned community developed in the first two decades of the 21st century. “Spencer’s Crossing is a hot new part of SoCal. It’s like an oasis in the desert where people can live a really nice lifestyle and maintain a reasonable budget,” says Jessica Foote, a broker with Native Real Estate and a resident of the community. Foote has found that her clients enjoy the community’s floor plans, which lend to multi-generational living or earning rental income on part of the properties. “It’s affordable luxury. People with refined taste who want a home that flows well are really attracted to Spencer’s Crossing,” she says.

New traditional homes with access to community pools and amenities
New traditional homes with a combination of Spanish Revival and Craftsman details comprise the subdivisions of Spencer’s Crossing, which was largely built between 2005 and 2021. Wide, sun-bleached sidewalks pass by front yards with neatly trimmed hedges and intentionally placed shrubbery. Monthly homeowners association (HOA) fees range between $110 and $120 across most of the neighborhood, unlocking access to a clubhouse, a spa and three resort-style pools. The Mahogany Hills and Country Roads HOAs charge monthly fees of around $40 and $70, respectively. Homes range from $630,000 to $950,000 in price, depending on size and amenities. Larger, pricier properties often come with in-ground pools, while paved and shaded patios are common throughout the neighborhood.

Parks, walking paths and resort-like pools integrated into the community
Walking trails meander between backyards in Spencer’s Crossing, passing by the community’s numerous green spaces. The Oasis at Spencer’s Crossing is central when it comes to recreation in the neighborhood. Lounge chairs shaded by wide umbrellas surround two pools with pristine, sparkling water. “I wasn’t originally planning on living in Spencer’s Crossing. I had a client selling out there, and when I saw the pool, I thought, ‘Why not live in resort land?’” Foote says.
Across the road, Victory Park offers a basketball court, a baseball diamond, a soccer field and a large playground with several spiral slides. “There’s a massive playground area. It’s bigger than anywhere I’ve seen,” Foote says. “It’s gated, so it’s super safe for kids.” The neighborhood’s CAP Index Crime Score is a 2 out of 10, which is significantly lower than the national average of 4.

Career technical education and college prep at Vista Murrieta High
Children living south of Baxter and Briggs roads may attend Lisa J. Mails Elementary School, which scores an A-minus grade from Niche. They may then move forward to Dorothy McElhinney Middle School and Vista Murrieta High School, both of which earn A grades. The high school’s modern career technical education building is home to seven different pathways for students to choose from. Vista Murrieta High also offers more than 30 Advanced Placement and dual enrollment courses, administered in part by Mt. San Jacinto College. Student athletes may choose between 22 sports teams, and the school touts 16 league championships, one state championship and one gold medal Olympian alumni.
Students living north of Baxter Road may begin their education at Harvest Hill STEAM Academy, which serves kindergarten through eighth grade, before moving forward to Liberty High School. Both schools maintain B grades.

Access to strip malls, Old Town Temecula and surrounding wine country
Two large suburban shopping centers are located on both sides of the neighborhood. The French Valley Village Center has a Stater Bros. Market grocery store, which is surrounded by fast-food restaurants like Subway, Del Taco and West Coast chain Farmer Boys. Skybox Grill & Tavern offers live music, karaoke and casual American fare — including five different varieties of fries — in a space decked out with football memorabilia. Farther west, a Target and a Costco Wholesale store sit next to The Home Depot, which opened its doors in December 2024.
Spencer’s Crossing is about 10 miles from Murietta’s main stretch of restaurants and roughly 13 miles from Old Town Temecula’s vibrant dining scene. “There’s backroad access to Temecula wine country,” Foote says, referring to Washington Street, which eventually turns into Buck Road and leads to several vineyards. “It’s just so relaxing if you’ve had a long day. I take a lot of business meetings out there.”

The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
