In the north Minneapolis suburb of Fridley, it’s not unusual to be close to one of the satellite city's 40 parks. Moore Lake Hills is no exception, as the newly renovated Moore Lake Park is across Central Avenue Northeast. “I feel like Fridley is a stand-alone area. You’re not missing out if you’re living in Fridley versus Minneapolis,” says Nathan Atkinson, a real estate agent with the Tyler Miller team at eXp Realty. “The lakes are generally smaller. It’s a mix of being further away from Minneapolis without being super far away.” The neighborhood is a mile north of I-694 and only 10 miles north of downtown Minneapolis.

Improved Moore Lake Park
Improvements to Moore Lake Park were one of the first completed as part of an initiative to improve most of the parks in Fridley. “This community has been asking for improvements and modernization,” says Mike Maher, Fridley’s parks and recreation director. “Moore Lake is not a pristine northern Minnesota lake, but people wanted to see a change.” Pickleball courts, a picnic shelter, and a large playground were added. A community center can also be rented out for events or meetings. At one time, Moore Lake was a hot swimming area with a beach, but the focus shifted to other water activities. The city doesn’t allow motors on Moore Lake, but canoeing, kayaking and fishing from the various piers are permitted.
