Central Fridley neighborhood
Rice Creek Terrace West is in the center of the north Minneapolis suburb of Fridley. “Everyone has a different pace of life, but for me personally, Fridley and this neighborhood fits nicely because you can kind of turn that pace on and off,” says Nathan Atkinson, a Realtor with Obvious Real Estate and eXp Realty, referring to this neighborhood being only 10 miles from downtown Minneapolis. Access to multiple parks and recreation options offers an escape from the city's noise.

With that amount of green space, some parks are within walking distance of the neighborhood. “We’re redoing about 20 neighborhood parks in the city over eight years,” says Mike Maher, the director of Fridley’s parks and recreation department. “We talk with folks in the neighborhood and bring improvement options.” Terrace Park is in Rice Creek Terrace West and is about three-and-a-half acres. Proposed improvements at this park will include the baseball diamond, an ADA-compliant playground and security lighting. The park also has a tennis court. Locke County Park is within walking distance on the neighborhood’s north side. A large picnic pavilion, access to the Rice Creek West Regional Trail, an enclosed dog play area and a playground are part of the fun at this shady retreat. Activities in city parks happen year-round. “We have people ice fishing and driving on the lakes in the winter,” says Joel Friday, a Realtor with Keller Williams Classic Realty. “If the ice is thick enough, you can take a four-wheeler out, drive as fast as you want, spin around in circles and you can’t hurt a thing.”
