Ladue Schools get an A+
One of Frontenac’s many draws is its highly-ranked public schools. The Ladue School District, rated A+ by Niche and ranked the best school district in Missouri, offers preschool through high school education to Frontenac public school students. Students may attend Conway Elementary from kindergarten through fourth grade, then continue to the Ladue School District’s Fifth Grade Center. For sixth grade through eighth grade, students may attend Ladue Middle School and then Ladue Horton Watkins High School through twelfth grade. All schools mentioned have been rated A+ by Niche, and the high school is ranked the Best Public High School in Missouri.
Students looking for a private education may attend gender-segregated Catholic schools in the area. St. Joseph’s Academy and Villa Duchesne Upper School are private Catholic all-girls high schools, ranked A+ and A, respectively, by Niche. Chaminade College Preparatory School is a private Catholic boy’s high school rated A+ that starts enrollment in seventh grade.

Tennis courts and spectator sports
Drace Park offers a history lesson and a workout. Log cabins from the 1800s and educational signage are dotted along the three hiking paths looping through the 9-acre park. There’s also a playground, pavilion and public restrooms available. On the north side of town is Dr. H. Phillip Venable Memorial Park, which offers tennis courts, a playground and a picnic area, and on the south side is Des Peres Park, with playgrounds, picnic areas and walking paths along the small lake.
Since St. Louis is nearby, Frontenac residents have access to plenty of city attractions. The St. Louis Zoo, City Museum and landmarks like the Gateway Arch make for fun day trips, while Art Hill offers a perfect date night with its Shakespeare in the Park performances.
St. Louis was named the “Ultimate Sports City” by ESPN Magazine, so it’s no surprise that Frontenac residents show up to support their home teams. Sporty locals head to Busch Stadium and the Enterprise Center to cheer on the Cardinals and Blues throughout the year.

Commuting to St. Louis
The neighborhood is bisected by Interstate 64, which serves as one of the major arteries in St. Louis. Downtown St. Louis is 13 miles east of Frontenac, and the trip via I-64 takes around 15 minutes during non-peak hours. It takes closer to a half hour during peak commute hours. While public transit is not extensive in Frontenac, commuters can take public buses from Clayton Transit Center to downtown St. Louis, and the trip takes about 45 minutes. The nearest airport, St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL), is located 9 miles north of Frontenac.
Bus route 58 runs along Clayton Road through Frontenac.
