Former industrial community turned into commuter locale
The community has its industrial origins in phosphate mining, according to Goodson. "Phosphate was the main industry and helped develop the area into communities like Fuller Heights," Goodson says. "Furniture making was another huge industry here--the Badcock Home Furniture warehouse was in nearby Mulberry." Today, phosphate mining and furniture making are a thing of the past. Most residents now work in retail, healthcare and construction. Fuller Heights is a popular commuter locale that allows residents to travel to cities like Lakeland or Tampa for work.
