A Northwest Gainesville community with midcentury homes
An optional homeowners association, neighborhood parks and annual yard sales are a few of the attractions in Forest Ridge. "This is a centrally located, desirable and mature neighborhood," says Rachel Kerensky, a Realtor with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Thomas Group, who has sold in the neighborhood. "Houses don't come on the market that often because when people buy here, they stay." Homes entering the market list higher than the metro average. The Forest Ridge development shares a Facebook page with the Henderson Heights subdivision, located in the southwest corner of the community. The area also sits within 5 miles of the University of Florida and downtown Gainesville.
Looking for nightlife, head downtown to play billiards and have a cold beer.

Homes sell quicker in Forest Ridge
Aside from the water tower on NW 23rd Street, the community is primarily residential. Many yards have tall pines that reach above homes, shading front yards while blocking the view of the water tower. Houses in Forest Ridge often have three or four bedrooms with two baths. Buyers can find midcentury concrete block homes and two-story houses with colonial influences. Although the community has no homeowners association, the homes are well-maintained, with trimmed front lawns. Houses entering the market tend to have updated flooring and roofs. Pricing varies based on the square footage. Homes under 2,500 square feet range in price between $350,000 to $425,000. Larger residences often range from $425,000 to $575,000. Kerensky says that the neighborhood has some of the biggest lots in the city for homes built at that time, between a third to a half of an acre.
From afar, the first thing that you notice is the water tower that sticks out above the trees.
