Exurb community filled with greenery in Prince William County
With nearly 2,500 households, Dominion Valley is an upscale community among the trees of Prince William County. Its gated subdivisions and private clubhouses are bordered by white farm-style fences, and the neighborhood has its own green spaces, shopping centers and a pair of country clubs. It's also just a couple of miles north of the town of Haymarket, which has more dining variety. In the early 1990s, Disney had planned to construct a history-themed amusement park in this area called ‘Disney’s America.’ The park was never built due to community pushback and logistical issues, but the natural beauty of the area that Disney sought would become incorporated into Dominion Valley’s tree-lined streets and parks.
Several gated subdivisions and active-adult community options
Home prices range from $760,000 to $1.5 million, varying by square footage and lot size. Dominion Valley offers eight distinct gated mini-neighborhoods with luxury single-family homes and townhouses, as well as Regency at Dominion Valley, a 55-plus community with single-family homes, townhouses and condos featuring one-level convenience. Stately colonials, Craftsman-style homes, modern farmhouses and European-inspired chateaus are set on expansive, manicured lawns. With custom craftsmanship and finishings, these homes normally have three to six bedrooms and up to 8,500 square feet. The average list price is around $800,000, but buyers might pay $600,000 for three bedrooms and 2,200 square feet, while houses with six bedrooms and 8,000 square feet can be priced north of the $2 million mark. Townhouses are available with two to four bedrooms and up to 3,000 square feet for between $600,000 and $700,000. Regency's townhouses sell for about the same price, while their condos are priced in the low- to mid-$400,000s for two bedrooms and around 1,500 square feet.

Neighborhood trails and the private Dominion Valley Country Club
Dominion Valley blends Prince William County’s natural landscape into its organized suburban streets. Trees line main roads and decorate backyards, while paths like Great Dominion Valley Trail snake behind homes and through the woods in the neighborhood’s center, so residents can take nature walks from their yards. To the east is James S. Long Regional Park, which regularly hosts youth and adult soccer league games on its many fields. Locals must pay for a membership to access the Dominion Valley Country Club, a signature 18-hole golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. The course follows Little Bull Run Creek and offers mountain views and picturesque landscapes at each hole. The country club also features Palmer’s Table & Tap, a restaurant and bar with an outdoor terrace so members can sip and socialize after a day on the fairways. Golf isn’t the only thing keeping folks busy. The Dominion Valley Country Club’s Sports Pavilion offers childcare and personal trainers and four outdoor pools between the clubhouse and the Waverly Club, a DVOA-run facility. The Waverly Club also provides an indoor pool and a private park featuring athletic courts and a large playground. Camp William B. Snyder lies west of Dominion Valley. It's a 350-acre campground with managed wetlands, open to Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and other community organizations to pitch tents under the stars and hike through the woods.

Annual Dominion Valley Country Club events
Dominion Valley Country Club hosts events nearly every day — from pickleball, golf and volleyball tournaments to wine tastings for adults and Halloween costume parties for the whole family. In the summer, outdoor events like the summer food truck festival, the fall festival, winter celebrations with carriage rides and campfires and a spring festival bring the community together.
Dominion Valley Market Square for retail and dining
Dominion Valley Market Square is a strip mall within the community that has a Giant for groceries. “It’s pretty much a bedroom community. You’re within 5 miles driving to places to shop,” says Andy Capuano, a Bristow area local and Realtor with Steven Joseph Real Estate. “Everything’s in our area [as far as shopping]; nobody here usually goes all the way out to Manassas.” There are also small local chains like Tony’s New York Pizza and Local’s Tacos and Tequila, which serves tinga tacos with shredded chicken in a spicy tomato-chipotle sauce. A quick drive south of home leads to retail centers like the Shoppes at Haymarket, which has an Aldi for groceries, Great Mane Brewery for craft beers and pub grub and Good Fellas Pizza for hot pies, pasta and garlic knots. Folks can also venture to Virginia Gateway Mall in Gainesville, with retailers like Target and Best Buy.

A car-dependent area where D.C. commuters take I-66
Dominion Valley is prized for its secluded location, though this also means residents are car-dependent, and there are no public transit options within the community. Interstate 66 is a couple miles south of Dominion Valley, and locals can take it 43 miles east to reach the nation’s capital, which can take over an hour, depending on rush hour traffic. “There’s a lot of other job centers besides D.C. that people here can commute to. Northern Virginia is a huge job market,” says Capuano.
GreatSchools:
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
